I've been less than happy with our Fiat, but YMMV. Ours had a major component failure after 20k miles, just outside warranty, and Fiat were not interested.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Hi Pobby

Nice to hear from you. There's been lots going on here - as you'll know if you've been catching up on the thread. If you want a digest, then it's that lir and I are trying to buy second hand cars, NDG has exchanged on a flat and joined the nice people, lemonjelly has been asking for advice about where to spend the bank holiday and viva has wanted advice about android apps, PN has been ferrying her parents around to doctors' appointments in between finding pictures of horrible kitchens to amuse us all, Sue has had to fit a new door to her washing machine, and lots of people have been making money on the voucher thingy at Tesco.

Apologies to anyone I've missed out - those are the happenings that spring to mind. Has anything noteworthy happened in your household, Pobby?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Hi Pobby,
I forgot to reply to your earlier post about my old haunt, and playing in Moles Club.

I'm afraid I never frequented Moles, as it came along too late for me, but my kids did.:) I was only in a college band, which folded when people left to start careers, so most of our gigs were college or uni-based. Some of our number did session work around that time for Andy Fairweather-Low, but he wouldn't have wanted me!

One year, we featured in the Ross on Wye Rock Festival, which was nice, because we were able to use a pro band's very loud PA system. I'll never forget the sight that awaited us when the curtains went up though.....Given the main act, we'd been expecting a good number of hairy, heavy people, but what we got was a hall full of twelve year old girls munching crisps!:rotfl:Now, that was

Somebody told me once they were annoyed at their friend because their friend couldn't read and whenever they were out and she had to read she'd ask "can you read this out, I've forgotten my glasses". I was in a shop yesterday trying to buy a spray tin of stuff and the assistant handed me the can and said "There, read it and see if it's what you want" and I had to say "Sorry, I can't read that, it's too small, can you read it for me" and I was SURE she felt I couldn't read at all :(

Lydia, that's a brilliant summary, very effective! There's a bit in the back of my mind that reminds me of the intro to that old 70s and early 80s American sitcom Soap. Does anyone else recall that?

I haven't had as much time to spend on here lately, not particularly because I'm trying to get to grips with my phone, but also because I need to sort things out on the job front or I'll find myself without one and very soon (though I'll still have my business, I like having the certainty of an income on which I can build additional revenue through my other jobs).

However I wanted to say Hi and welcome NDG to the Nice People's Thread, which I feel had it been started a year or so earlier you'd have been at the centre of from the outset, so its a real pleasure to see you here now. Good luck in the new home too! Also another Hi to Pobby, good to hear from you again and always know you can pop by and say hello and as you can see from our other posts on here, a problem shared is a problem halved, so stick around chap!
Oh and hi too to all the SSSSSs, good to see you back. I loved the Shanghai GP, so much so that I watched it twice:o much to frustration of doctortifosi, who after Ferrari didn't win said he had better things to do with his day.

Good luck also to Jelly sorting out his trips. We should have a nice people day out to Bletchley Park for those who are close enough as its in the middle of a lot of us.

That's not quite everything I wanted to say, but good luck to everyone else with the purchase of cars, washing machine doors, jewellery making tools, extensions and copious quantitites of bargains from Tesco.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I know that's not me, but I do like to look these things up regardless :)

Driving: 280 miles, 5 hours. So about £60 on diesel I guess and a 10 hour round trip.
Train: £96-279 return. 7.5 hours each way, with 3 changes.

Drive first 100 miles, then get the train: £78-259 return. 4 hours each way on the train + 2 hours each way driving. 2 changes on the train.

It is always quickest to drive the first 100 miles.

Put me down as a "no".
