And it does cost quite a lot. My DW, who goes to the dentist up in the little town, had a check-up which cost £19. My two blondes were almost exactly double at £39.

I had a filling just before Christmas. Cost me £200

Hope things work out for you in some great way you don't expect yet.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

For some reason Viva's post and those associated didn't show here for me till this morning, just morag's. I have no wisdom to offer elsewhere, but a great deal of concern and well wishes.

I have a cold AGAIN (I think that makes 8 since winter started....no fun!) so last night I gave up and got takeaway rather than cooking and associated washing up...and the washing up that had built up over the day .....I swear the dirty mugs breed. Today I'm continuing the theme of general self indulgence with a book on the sofa.

    On a different subject...

I finally got my act in gear last night. I assembled two pieces of furniture and unpacked 8 boxes. I had some help from dd (7) but no adult friend to kick me into action.

There's a long way to go, but at least there is movement at last.

ETA I phoned my former letting agent yesterday - a problem with forwarding post, so nothing major. Anyway, they tell me that there are no new tenants in there, but they're not remarketing it. I asked if that was because they were fixing the "water feature" and redecorating, but apparently not. The LA thought it was a bit odd. I wonder what is going on.

Eldest is going through a bit of a crisis at the moment, his studies are not going well, he seems to have lost his oomph and has no idea how to get it back. All the teachers say he is talented and knows his stuff verbally but he just does not seem to be able to transfer that to words on a page in any semblance of order.

He has already stated he wants to drop English Language as he feels he is no good at it despite his teacher telling him he is no worse than over half the class and has good potential, if only he could get what he knows onto a blasted piece of paper!

He is tired all the time, not just ordinary teenager lounge about tired but absolutely exhausted but keeps pushing himself to keep going....and then ending up falling asleep at his desk, or at the laptop doing coursework/homework at home, I don't think he has made it past 10 o clock at night for ages and I struggle to get him up in the morning.

There are other behaviours which are contrary to his disability but he is in a big state of denial right now...he even spent last Saturday at work with a dislocated shoulder he couldn't get back in (he can usually slip it in and out on a whim) even though it was causing a lot of pain and when he did eventually get it back in, he carried on doing the same thing which had caused it to come out in the first place, only for it to come out again!

It is worrying me now but as he is 18 in 6 months and is essentially an adult, I can't force him up to the doctors or to see his physio and he refuses to go...what on earth do I do?
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Nothing. For the six months left you do what you can, and obviously continue to do that and love him, but he has to make his own decisions. He's sounds, usually, sensible and pragmatic, from your posts.

DH is on a call with a guy who sounds like the Puss in Boots from Shrek...only faster. I could hear his voice, but not what he was saying from the next room and I've been almost rolling on the floor laughing. He's talking with that kind of paced speech you get, or hear people with, while fencing (i.e.with a foil not with post and rail). I have a wonderful image of a guy pransing about his office with a pariser while on the call.

Top tip: train yourself to only ever use ONE mug. I only use one.... there must be a dozen hanging by the kettle I could use, but I only ever use one and wash it up, even if it means going up to my room to get my dirty mug down rather than grabbing another that's just 6" in front of me.

    :)
