But then today it's gone splat. Figures don't look too dissimilar to previous, just they're not coming up trumps with the £££. Tomorrow I can analyse the Imps, CTR, CPC etc and see if there was a difference. Also compare with the same Thursday last year.
I think in the main it has really hit Amazon on hubpages. My own sites haven't been affected by it. In fact, my traffic on hubpages hasn't been too badly affected, but the quality of the traffic is dire.
Good(ish) traffic and no conversion = bad money.
What I've been noticing is that Amazon ranks really well under the new algorithm... you often get Amazon ranking on 100,000 visitors a month terms with no links... and it isn't too hard to get writing an ebook...
I was thinking about whether I could write a shortish 100 page ebook on a topic like... how to buy a house... and flog it for £2. Get 5% conversion on a topic with 12,000 views a month... you are talking a decent chunk of change. Even after amazon takes its cut.
Problem is the art. Not good at that. Have to think things though. Don't want to spend money on it unless I am sure it would work.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Maybe though, good, sound information doesn't need 'art'. Just create some simple graphics such as are to be found in the dummies guides, where they indicate something you must do, a tip, something to note, etc.
So more "book like"/old school and not arty farty. You could bang it together and see if it floats..... if it floats you can always hire a designer and launch new improved v2.0 -
I am with hubs because I don't care it's a 60% share, I'd rather have a 60% share of their traffic than 100% of my own. Some important/wealthy bloke once said "I'd rather have 1% of effort from 100 men, than 100% effort of my own" and I've always agreed with him0

The 'interviewer' was clearly in a call centre, so you'd probably want to make sure you're somewhere quiet when they call - it could be quite difficult to hear at times. In the main I found that the interview mainly covered questions I'd already answered when applying online - e.g. dates available, willingness to work evenings/ weekends etc.
The half-day training was fine if a bit of a waste of time - mainly centred on role play. I must say that I thought our trainer gave us some wrong information about coding (will make more sense after doing the online training), but maybe I just the wrong idea...
P.s. Lemonjelly - make sure you take your id docs to the training session too (and I took another photocopy)
Good post Nikkster.
I hate role play with a passion!
It is never real!:mad:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Hi jelly,
Saw you were on line so wanted to flag this for you. We get all the book selling magazines at work and I turn avidly each month to the new non-fiction titles. There's one about to be released that is about the guy they called the French Ripper and the case's impact on forensic science. Thought you might find it interesting. See:

I saw a good book for fc too, but haven't seen her around for a bit, so I'll save that for when I know she's around. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I extended my rightmove searches out a bit, and someone's flicked a switch somewhere that has caused so many pretty properties to come onto the market. I've got three new ones on the list this morning.
One is a big detached Georgian House with every single original feature in the village where we did the barn conversion. So beautiful and given a far too reasonable guide price. Fan lights above every door, deep skirting, servant's bells, fancy render... H asked if we need to replace the windows and is panicking about how we'd insulate it. No. And big curtains, I said.
And another cottage in a lovely village, part of which is a cute little shop. Would be the little shop I dream of, full of fancy toot, bound not to make any money, but I'd spend my days on here, in there.
And a barn conversion hidden in a City Centre with views over the river.
I'd like all of them please.
EDIT: And the double fronted Victorian Villa with all it's original fireplaces. I'd quite like that one too.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Cheers Viva! I'll add it to the list.
I am currently reading this:
The title is slightly misleading (my book is titled "the life of a racketeer and psycopath") Adding on the Whitechapel murderer bit is probably a publisher trying to shift extra copies.. The author actually investigated Joseph Lis, a racketeer. During his research, he established that Lis was in Whitechapel in 1888, & tried to hide that fact all his life. The final chapter (which I haven't got to yet) is one that the author acknowledges has an amount of speculation, however it presents what evidence the author has for Lis' movements at the time. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
