Did you get that broken scanner working?Doozergirl wrote: »
If you scan it then I'm sure lots and lots of people will continue to reassure you that you're doing the right thing. I've just been reading the forums on there this evening and had forgotten the people on there have spectacular amounts of knowledge! The forums are such interesting reading (I'm such a nerd!)
I'm really sorry that this has caused such anguish to you. I hope I haven't added to it, I just don't want to see you any lighter than you need to be.0 -
I just found this on the web....
'A man was driving along slightly above the speed limit, he heard the sound of a siren and saw blue flashing lights in his rear view mirror. Instead of stopping, he stamped on his accelerator . After a few minutes the police eventually pulled him over and asked why he didn't stop. He replied, two weeks ago my wife left me for a traffic cop, so why didn't you stop asked the police man., beacuse I thought you were bringing her back!'
I've heard that before, but it still made me laugh0 -
If they don't have video of you, then they won't win any court case. You only use it if they decide to go to court. It will cost them more money than the parking ticket price to produce the videos and the costs won't be recoverable during the court case.
I'm with you now. Except, if they did issue proceedings, the judge would order disclosure of all documents (including videos) they intended to rely on in court. They might print off a couple of stills, but then the defence can ask the court to order disclosure of the whole video. And then again, none of this will happen, cos we're only talking about £85. These parking companies are only interested in the low hanging fruit. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Oh, I agree. Don't tell any lies. Just don't let on who the driver was on that occasion.
You need to decide:
a) You'll pay these crooks a totally unreasonable sum of money now but have an easy life, or
b) You'll ignore all their correspondence and make life hard for them.
You need to choose one or the other and then follow it through consistently. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

The judge would order disclosure of documents, BUT, when you get to court if you do it through the civil procedure rules there is a clause that allows them to charge you for the costs of disclosure.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Aaarrrgggghhhhh..... I am so frustrated at the moment.
My favourite uncle died a few years back. You know that voice of calm and reason that you can always go and speak to. He loved DH too and spoke science to him all the time. My uncle was a nuclear safety worker. When Three Mile Island happened, he barely batted an eyelid and gave lots of reassuring words. When Chernobyl happened, he was working constant overtime while telling us sensibly what precautions to take. There are so many armchair experts around on the threads at the moment, I'm sure some have a lot of nuclear science knowledge, but who? I wish my uncle was still here. He would tell me exactly where what is happening in Japan lies between Three Mile Island and Chernobyl and what the concerns should be. I'm sure we're not nearing nuclear disaster but I want someone to say that. He'd also be sitting down with DH having a really interesting conversation about it, both being scientists. Talking to my Mum yesterday, we both decided we really miss him. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Totally agree. Look at the current BBC 'Breaking News' Japanese emperor 'deeply worried' What a bloody stupid headline! Perhaps they should have reported, Emperor says avoid Sushi for a few days, or nows a good time for you to go on holiday!0 -
As I see it .... if there's any radiation, it'll get taken by the winds to America's west coast... and Canada/Oregon/California will get it first. Americans will shout very loudly about this ....
Chernobyl was over there to the right of us, quite close. Japan is small and far away *does Father Ted impression*
Also, Chernobyl was a nuclear "explosion", from something they were doing that was stupid. Japan is a leak of radiation, different thing entirely.
So:
a] It won't get here first
b] It wouldn't get this far
c] Americans will act as a loud hailer as to what's going on.

I can't believe I've lost that parking thing. It was right here. I've not moved. I've not "put it away somewhere safe". It should be right here, where I was looking at it. But it's not. It's not right here and it should be.
D4mned thing.
Wanted to post on PP.... just for some other warm hugs.
Edit: found it, it'd slipped off the edge of the bed, down between the bed and the wall... it's a bit fluffy now, but I have it.0 -
