Just been ticketed - feeling wretched.

There's a car park by a beach, where nobody goes in the winter. So they issue a free parking permit, which I've got. Now, I don't keep it on display in case some idiot decides to smash my window for it ... and I went down there today for a stroll on the beach and forgot to put it out. It's a quiet car park - probably only 10% full, yet there was a bloke obviously watching who rushed over and ticketed me. Thing was, I remembered that I'd forgotten and only returned to the car to get it out. Never seen anybody ticketed there before, forgotten before and not had a ticket.... so gutted. £45 gone.... which is about 2 days' income. Gutted.

Tried seeing if it was enforceable, but the Internet's full of 'advice' but nothing concrete that you can actually say "Yes, this is unenforceable". So I guess I have to pay up.

Once I've done that, I'll launch a negative campaign against all the businesses there and advise anybody to not get the next free permit that comes out. I'll direct everybody to go somewhere else... e.g. the other end of the same beach where parking's completely free all year anyway.

I'll also stop getting my pie/chips from there :)

Call, give them the details of your permit. Some might try saying the permit had ''slipped from view''.

No. They're known for being ruthless sh1ts who don't return anybody's calls/letters. Even the police tried to take them to court over various issues and lost.

    Bunch of thugs/cowboys.

Closest advice is to ignore it ... and await debt collection letters, court threats, bailiff threat letters... I'm not mentally able to go through all that + I don't want my parents to know about this or I'll be treated like an idiot by them forever and it'll be thrown in my face every time I go out and come back.

They've even clamped people in the past who had valid/displayed tickets ... simply because they were upside down.

There's even a sticky on pepipoo, leading to a youtube video of Watchdog, where the bloke says turn it into a paper plane and lob it.

But ... I completely and utterly lack any b4lls.

    NONONONO!

You do have balls PN. You have balls big enough to ignore them. It is unenforceable, you must ignore it. You know that Pepipoo is right. They even gave me the guts to stand up to TFL and win. I'd have no trouble at all ignoring the illegal con-men.

Please don't pay it. Ignore, ignore, ignore. The peeps at Pepipoo will support you.

Worth going through the initial appeal stage I would have thought.

What sort of dodgy car park is it, where you risk your window being smashed for having your permit on display?

But .. but ... but ... I don't want to run the risk of random bailiffs turning up at my parents' house when I'm not here.

From all the noise and fluff and posts, I can't positively point to one/two and say "Yes, this is the truth; this is something I can trust".

    I don't want court letters/bailiffs :(

What appeal stage? I know nothing about this.

I meant, anywhere that I could park my car at all, where any random chav could see it and think "I'll have that". Just scallies, I've heard scallies nick blue badges, so it doesn't take much for an idiot to think nicking any parking permit's a winning plan.

    It says:
    - £42.50, £85 if not paid within 14 days
    - If not paid within 28 days an order for payment through the courts will be applied for - you may have to pay costs
    - They reserve the right to clamp/remove any vehicle ... if found to re-offend.

And also it says: "... not paid within the given time will be passed to our debt recovery agent, where you may incur additional charges"

And "We reserve the right to contact the DVLA in order to obtain vehicle keeper details if the ticket remains unpaid".
