Half the price .... seems doable. And it'd be completely hand-crafted.
But .... I won't be offering as it's just a guess it's easy - and I'd be scared of doing it as my first thing really.
Doesn't look hard though.
Maybe I can stand over LIR while she does it and I could coach her. 1 day's coaching and all the tea I can drink.0 -
I can't believe how much you lot'd be prepared to pay for a washing machine. It's a bucket in a metal frame that goes round ... and a hose chucking water in. £200 tops.0

Yes but no but
having a bigger drum means slightly fewer loads in a large household and a faster spin mean.s much quicker drying so then it is min 250 for a machine that will last between 1 and 3 years and have the hassle of replacement. Hence 355 for a machine that will last 6 years is a good deal.I think....0 -
Oh, Comet is my least favourite store. Look, they sold you damaged goods, and it's their responsibility to collect them.
I bought a freezer from them last year...they delivered and the lovely delivery men carried it through, unwrapped it and......there was a dent..cosmetic not damaging function. Comet said it wasn't their problem and I had to call the manufacturer which I did and got some money back....my choice was money or another freezer...chances is it would get cosmetically dented here too and its in a utility room not on show so cash speaks louder than pristine to me.0 -

I'm thinking about a new washing machine soon. Ours is almost certainly going to die soon. Its at least ten years old and was my parents' washing machine for dog beds, having been replaced with a newer machine for human stuff. Here t does everything with a rinse or two before human stuff. A big washing machine capable of doing small loads is invaluable. Its annoying doing bedding from one bed as two washes but being able to put small loads on with little guilt is also a nice thing.0 -
The problem with most of the larger load washing machines is you have to balance them very well, otherwise they can actually stall. It's something the salespeople don't tell you about.
PasturesNew... yeah, I hate design. I always think the money's in the writing, but you need a template that will look good enough for people to be willing to link to your site... so sooner or latter you have to start messing with the design. And it takes ages (when you consider my design brief is to try to make the design not too noticeable, it always seems to take longer than it should do).“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I like your blog. Honestly though? I think it looks, but not reads, a bit impersonal, which is a bit cold and feels a bit ''artificial''. You are extremely personable person, the only reason I feel I can say this because I know its within your power to reverse that and that honest feedback would be helpful. I hope. Please forgive critique of something I can't do is meant with good wishes and fondness!0 -
I haven't seen tom's blog, have no idea where it is! Or maybe I have and I forgot.... the mind plays tricks you know.
Just had a call, evening class is cancelled for tonight, they'll tack another night onto the end; how annoying. It's already annoying that it's just once a week and I'd already looked up the answer to "how many more piggin' weeks do I have to keep going".
Oh well.
Right then ... off rockpooling. Back later with pockets of treasure.0 -
I also have a suspicion that the components aren't upgraded for the extra load - a quick google for reviews of most of the non-premium brand larger drum machines shows complaints for bearing failure starting at just over a year old for most brands. May be I am better going super cheap small load and accepting it will fail in a couple of years?
Previously I have done second hand with great success but that was in pre-family days when a small machine was adequate.
You can see the washing machine issue is dominating my life - went to the laundrette this morning - a large load washed not dried was £5 (so £10 for 2) and the spin was obviously not very fast so a lot of drying left to do at home - and at 5 per load that would be about 30+ quid a week for us - wouldn't take long to pay for a washing machine even discounting the hassle factor - who uses laundrettes anyway?!The problem with most of the larger load washing machines is you have to balance them very well, otherwise they can actually stall.
