I think door catches are quite easy to mend/. If you got the xtd warranty, then doesn't it cover the breakage?..after all, you own it now so the warranty kicked in from the day it came home. I'd file claim tomo :D

But this was damage that occurred before the warranty started.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I miss you too ! And I feel terrible about having semi-tame foxes..in that they weren't tame until I came back and started feeding them tit bits and talking to them. However, no-one near here keeps chickens at all......and there's no nearby sheep either.

Dam..I know the type and I'll bet I could have found you a supply today. The only downside, is how many curtains as min from most mills is about 50m?
The other downside is they would need to be lined with that light resistant fabric as, if a knit (which the chevron stripe is) they will rot really quickly from the sunlight....which makes making them a little tricky as knit has stretch and you would place the woven behind...so the seamstress would need to have longer woven measurment to stitch to the knit (due to the ease). Does that make sense.
By eye, I would say a ratio of 10'' of woven to 8'' of stretch does that make sense? They would pucker a bit too.

Actually, forgert the above and being MSE. I am sure you can find this knit for £5 pm (I have seen it..not as nice as missoni but essence) so, put them up, when they rot, replace. Voila!

I haven't got my supplier links on this PC.+ many don't load their stock online but I have one place you could 'phone in N London called Empee fabrics. Ignore the silk in the title :)

most of his stuff is £2 pm and min per colourway is only 10m. Snag is his online store is limited but if you called and asked for a snippet, he'd send it. Describing it as Missoni knit is enough.
I am sure I have seen some there...but I haven't been to his place for 18 months now.

Don't feel too bad about the foxes. ;) I LOVE foxes....its a misconception that people like me don't like them. I like them and think they are vital part of our ecosystem....in managable numbers...and not near my chickens. Healthier foxes in towns than in over foxy countryside anyway. :D

GREAT thank you. Thanks for rot info...like silk I guess? I plan foil interlining and blackout lining. curtains for one bg Georgian sash and a door...so three curtains, but one of them double sized, maybe four curtains easier! will try your chap, thank you! MSe fabric a bonus if possible, but figure lux fabric worth it too...:o:o

    superglue :)

edit: in fact, I think its kind of witty in a georgian house, like modern chinoiserie, that's what I love about it...like this house but with young people in it.

As Pasture's newly appointed agent (she just doesn't know yet), I wanted to say that you've got someone on this board with wire pliers and enough imagination who is more than capable of manufacturing that for you, and willing to do it for half the price, providing you provide the stuffed pidgeons.

Yeah - pretty sure it is the responsibility of the store but not sure if I can get them to collect as they did not deliver - annoyed at myself for not checking the door shut in store (it was on display) but it didn't occur to me that it might be broken. Not sure how the guy who wrapped in in bubble wrap didn't notice that the door didn't stay closed when he was wrapping it but I guess he was more interested in the fact he had made his sale.

The manufacturers warranty probably doesn't cover breakages and the store version does but I only took that out as part of the bargaining process to get the price down knowing that it included free cancellation in the T&C...like I said, not easy.

My plan is to try ad get a local Comet to swap it for a new one - them doing collection and delivery, but that means waiting on Comet to get new stock which is due in a week but who knows...I guess I will have to use the laundrette which I hate - then again I have lots of free time at the moment.

I don't know anything about curtains I'm afraid.

Oh, Comet is my least favourite store. Look, they sold you damaged goods, and it's their responsibility to collect them. Unfortunately, my experience with Comet is that their customer service is simply awful. So, there's a gap between your rights and what they'll actually do unless you sue them. If you paid with a credit card, that would be really good.

So, you can cancel the warranty policy they mis-sold you?

There's a Miele washing machine on offer at JL for £699. http://www.johnlewis.com/230421321/Product.aspx

Not quite the spec of the Panasonic, but we've had our Miele for almost 13 years, and it's done over 16,000 hours. The only repair has been a new door seal a few months ago, and the engineer said ours still had a few years life in it.
