I've been on the beach, well, two beaches. And yes, feet in the water and it wasn't cold at all. Lovely out there. Car temperature gauge says it's about 14-15 degrees outside. No wind, so that keeps it warm when you're on the beach.

Just got my scanner down and plugged it in though and it's not working, which is a s0d.

Oh my goodness, every time I sit down the cats launch on to me like freaky marsupials. we're so cold we're huddling together and there is think ice on a north facing trough...but none on the others that I checked today. Its definitely spring like, but just very cold spring.

Also...brings back the point about ''morning room'' rather than sitting room.. no south or west sunlight keeps it FREEZING! Useful on a july afternoon, grim in chilly March!

It was beautiful weather today here, first day where it has actually been pleasant to be outside, sunny, warm & etc.

    Message for Pastures,

Forum is down at the other place. Wanted to let you know in case it affects other sites of yours.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

    Cheers viva. I'll check it.
I paid the annual bill last month!

Edit: In the immortal words of "IT support" - it works for me.

You must have just caught it at a blip moment.

Mrs Bodge and sons will have to get their act together in the next few days....bought a new toilet seat at a charity shop today (brand new and a third of the price at Argos) and haven't a scoobie how to fit it on, sure I will work it out.

Elsewhere, everything is all calm after Sunday night.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

That was us too today too, so there must've been a bit of an east - west split. :)

We have a hazelnut tree with leaves unfurling, and the willows aren't going to be far behind either. Living with a daft, inflexible heating system, (oil Aga) we've had the back door (in a conservatory) wide open most days in the last few weeks.:o

Maybe it's because we have to, but there don't seem to have been many days when we've been prevented from working outside in the past month.

Glad to hear that, having only recently caught up.

I was going to say that although you have much extra to cope with, ours threw extreme wobblies, walked out, went to live elsewhere etc etc.

So sorry to hear things have been so difficult for you over the last few days, Sue, but at least I can help with how to deal with the toilet seat. Look underneath at the back, and you will see two screws, one on each side. Unscrew them. The seat should lift off. Look carefully at how it fits into its attachment thingies as you take it off - they are all slightly different. Then put the new one on the same way the old one came off. You'll be fine. I know you will.

It's very cold here too - frosty in the mornings but beautiful to look at. On the gardening-taste front, I like plants that make coloured flowers - not interested in lots of green stuff - and/or smell nice.

My update is that I have finally given the keys back to my rented house. :j It's been a bit of a nightmare, really.

I had such a good plan. We were supposed to move during the first couple of days of half term, and then have the rest of half term and the weekend to unpack the new house and sort everything out at the old one, so that everything would be ready for me to go back to work and concentrate on A-level mocks.

I went down with a nasty cold the night before the first of the two moving days, so just had to plough on with the move however bad I felt. I had to do crazy things like standing by the removals lorry in the biting wind for hours saying "That goes in the house; this goes in the garage." I couldn't have coped without my wonderful friend who came to stay with her two daughters and helped.

On the Wednesday I took my friend and her girls to the station and retired to bed. Then I stayed there until Sunday. I don't know if it was a really nasty virus or just plain exhaustion. Both, probably. My kids did a great job of looking after me. It helped that some of my friends had delivered meals for us to eat on the moving days, and they made far too much, so we could keep microwaving the leftovers for a few days.

I recovered just in time to go back to work. Last week and last weekend were exhausting - living out of boxes, doing mocks and reports at school, and dashing back to the old house to clear the garden toys, empty the loft, replace the lampshades and take mine down, fix a few minor problems, and clean everywhere. To cap it all, this weekend was one of the few Saturdays I had to be in school.

We finished on Sunday evening and then I took ds and dd to the funfair (which happened to be in town) and for a takeaway. Now I just have to get the new house sufficiently sorted that the builder can come back and finish off a few things. I am going to a birthday party on Friday and have booked a babysitter, so the place needs to be in some semblance of order by then.

The builder needs to put the curtain poles back up (don't worry, we've got blinds, even if dd's is balanced between a bookcase and an uplighter instead of attached to the wall), put something permanent to replace the temporary thing closing the hole in the wall where the vent for the old boiler used to be & patch the flooring where the old boiler's left a hole, tile part of the utility room, fit a shower over the bath, and paint the wall over the stairs which I've decided is too high for me. I think I'll also get him to remove the kitchen unit with the fitted fridge that I'm not using. I'll replace my fridge freezer with one 5cm narrower that will fit in the space and find a new home for the old one with somebody that needs it.

Mocks went OK. One of the teachers has announced that she's leaving this summer. She has an extra responsibility that I'd love to do (PM me if you'd like to know what) so I'm preparing to apply for it if and when they advertise it. It would be worth 3/40 FTE time allowance and a bit of extra money. Last time it came up I asked if it was available to part-timers and the deputy head said no, so I was rather stuck. This time I'm just going to put in an application anyway. I've been doing some things in my own time for the benefit of my own department that have started to be used by other departments too, so I can use that to demonstrate some of the skills (both technical and liaising with the wider school) that are relevant.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
