Something I think the school has forgotten...I know not to pressure him too much because I am aware of his limitations but the school tend to forget his problems as he appears so bright.
Don't think they have quite got the hang of the fact that you can aspergers and be academically bright, they appear to expect them all to have bad learning disabilities (he does, his verbal understanding is cack, he only 'gets it', when it is in written form) and perform poorly academically.
Edit - All quiet on the western front now, eldest is home, middle son has calmed down and is now asleep. I can't settle though so might try to have a read or something. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Good luck Sue. Am channelling positive thoughts across the Oceans.0

Hey Sue,
I couldn't respond yesterday because I didn't have full net access so could only read your post. I hope things are better today and am very glad eldest son came home. I always knew he would though, he is eminently sensible. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

One of my very favourites. others are one I can never remember but think called (phoenetic) sin-air-re-a (guessing cyneria?) that is sort of nothing unless planted en masse when it seems as if the air above this nothing plant turns blue..., and poppy types of ALL sorts...blue meconopsis, the welsh poppies, the californian poppies, the haymeadow poppies, nicotiana, love in the mist...all those easy seeds. I love delphiniums and fox gloves and the very humble hollyhock. I love old fashion roses....whether really old or the david austin english roses....which though ''cheaty'' give much longer flowering season, so earn their keep ten fold. I really love lady's mantle and euphorbia...greens that are so often overlooked....
PN my dad calls them Bunnys' ears too.:)0 -

No-one? You all mulling it over?
Viva - have posted in the other place. You might want to review the "social implications of the downturn" thread I did a while ago. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Thanks, a lot calmer today although I am feeling it and had very little sleep.
Me and eldest did have a very good talk and he has reached the end of his tether basically, being a young carer whilst also in 6th form is not working well for him and he is very very stressed and near breaking point...he really doesn't think he can handle it all anymore. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. You came my way last year. Otherwise I'd offer you a spare room (if you could cope with mess) to use as a base.0 -
Sue, your eldest always sounds t me like a saint. Its probably jut his time for a wobble. He's had SO much of his own, as well as family, to worry about this year. I think to have his year be a teenager and still be even half way communicative and polite sounds like a triumph for you as a mother.0

Evening all,
A total break from anything sensible, but I just found a quiz the Guardian ran a couple of days ago. We all know that Col Gaddaffi is as mad as a box of frogs and that Charlie Sheen as bonkers as a rocking horse on a swing. But given they are both prone to ranting, take the test and see if you can work out who said what:

I scored 6/10 but it's pretty hard.
