I hate this whole "say it rather than writing it down and then do something different in the future" culture that is pervading the country at the moment. Bl00dy call centres are the worst.
Thia is excellent advice. I will see what I can do. Now I know how the land lies I will definitely do this with the next thing that needs approval.0 -
No offense to anyone, but I've just been out onto the main debate forum for the first time in a while. It's pretty dreadful out there at the moment. It's actually worse than guidofawkes. Occasionally you get a old regular who actually has a few brain cells, but most of the discussions seem to be with the dribble brigade.
Fairly dire.
On related news, I have been trying a random web site called webanswers.com. it is a complete rip off. Don't bother, is all I can say.
I find the debate board does fluctuate in its quality. That said, it has deteriorated over the past 3+months. I miss some of the quality posters - Inspector Monkfish for example. I miss some of the genuine debate on economic (& wider) issues. I miss contributions from people like kennyboy66 - always insightful. I miss fc123. ruggedtoast always posted intelligent, questionning stuff. Pobby always had a good view to discuss. Robin banks. Of course, over the past 2 years there have been many posters who I have really enjoyed reading, & conversing with. There are way too many to mention. There does appear to be a fair few no longer around.
I do tire of the baiting & inane-ness of some of the so called debate at the mo. I am starting to really abhor some of the clique-iness & points scoring we're seeing.
I used to log in & read almost every thread on the first 2 pages. I have had days where I have no interest in any (perhaps bar 1;)).
I have learned a lot over the past 2 years, and have been immensely grateful to some of the teachers.
In addition, I also have thought about malcolm a few times. I hope he is well, & even reading, if not contributing, & is well in himself. He truly is "one of us".:)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I agree, though there are a few newer posters that post interesting things. FWIW I don't mind where people's opinions are entrenched or take a relatively extreme view providing they can back up their position with facts and well made argument (like Hamish and AD) rather than "I'm right, you're wrong" name calling or the endless posting of YouTube rants of bonkers USians without any meaningful comment. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? After saying all the above, it is also evolutionary isn't it? Like language?
I was reminded of this thread:

Like life. People come, people go.
I dunno - getting in danger of rambling incoherently territory...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I don't think you are rambling incoherently but I'm wondering whether you are morphing into lir. That's a very lir way of writing things. Please tell me you aren't lir's working class sockie. That would be the greatest shock of all;).Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
