Is it just me, or are the Shakespeare comedies just not that funny?
edit: also, the office... as a comedy series, it is the only one I've ever known where you get less than 1 laugh on average per show.inspector_monkfish wrote: »
I am glad she got a really nice christmas at home, with her parents, and she is obviously a brave girl. I wish her all the best for the next year. It's a great article, too.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Daisy is so brave.
I'm sure everyone here wishes her all the best when she returns for further treatment in the New Year. The love of her family and the recent fun of Christmas at home will help her sustain that admirable fighting spirit.0 -

Lostinrates, are you me in disguise? I could have written any of those comments, and I'm with you on Eddie Izzard too. Oh, and I'm with davesnave on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, although I'm not sure I'd go so far as to describe myself as a bit of an old fart.
Inspector, we're all so pleased that Daisy has been able to have Christmas at home with the rest of you. Here's hoping 2011 sees some lasting improvement in her condition.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

How fantastic that you were able to have a family Christmas, all together.
Wishing Daisy and you all a good New Year - hope everything proceeds well for Daisy throughout 2011.0 -
I]Blackadder thinks Nurse Mary is a German spy[/I
Captain Blackadder: And then the final, irrefutable proof. Remember, you mentioned a clever boyfriend...
Nurse Mary: Yes.
Captain Blackadder: I then leapt on the opportunity to test you. I asked if he'd been to one of the great universities, Oxford, Cambridge, or Hull.
Nurse Mary: Well?
Captain Blackadder: You failed to spot that only two of those are great Universities.
Nurse Mary: Swine!
General Melchett: That's right! Oxford's a complete dump!lemonjelly wrote: »LIR surely you can remember the final scene from blackadder goes forth? Where the soldiers go over the top? One of the best scenes on british tv ever! All the blackadder series were a phenomenon imo, & they still stand the test of time.I think....0 -
Thanks for keeping us up to date. Makes me realise I shouldn't be moaning about our flu-filled Christmas.inspector_monkfish wrote: »I think....0

I quite like QI but I'm afraid something about the marvellously intelligent Stephen Fry unnerves me. I envy his brain, but not his character.
I reme, ber Blackadder now. I quite liked that but don't think I'd like it now if that makes sense.
I'm with you on these points. Never liked Monty Python. Blackadder was good in its day but it doesn't work for me now. As for Stephen Fry, I find him slimy and repellent. The best bit of QI is the music.
I used to love 'Have I Got News' but rarely watch it these days though I do like Paul Merton and Ian Hislop. Oh, and I like Alan Davies too - as a comedian that is. I bellieve he gave Julia Sawalha a tough time.
I think comedians tend to be quite complex characters. Remember the classic Tony Hancock?
Oh yes, and I loved 'The Young Ones'. Always found Rik Mayall very attractive.0 -

Ian Hislop is actually someone who you know you shouldn't admit to being attracted to, but I am. He's funny and charming and bright and sharp....all qualities I find very sexy.0 -

Yes, I think 'decency' shines through him and I always find that attractive. However, I think he's a bit on the short side.0
