  • This thread is great!!

My DFW resolutions for 2011 are:

    1. To pay off my pink friend aka the CC!! :D
    2. Save, Save and Save some more for a house deposit! (Hopefully have a decent deposit by late 2012) :)
    3. Put ALL my babysitting money into savings for my house deposit.
    4. Try to leave all savings in their accounts instead of dipping into them each month.
    5. Use my phone app to keep track of my spending.

AND FINALLY - Not so much DFW

    6. Get to my goal weight at WW (This may possibly happen before Christmas :j)

    Lets see..

    1. Pay off credit card
    2. Keep on top of the bills (right now I'm slightly behind)
    3. Have the money saved to pay my MOT and Tax
    4. Actually use Quicken to keep track
    5. Stick to the financial fasting

Most importantly, I want to end 2011 with less debt than I'll be starting with.
  • My New Year Resolutions

    1. Be debtfree(by April)
    2. Lose 3 stone through healthy eating and exercise
    3. Learn French
    4. Pass my driving test before I am 35
    5. Ebay my stuff, the 6 boxes in the shed.
    6. Finish the garden, planting and building a fish pond
    7. Have £5000 in a savings account by December
    8. To be organised at work, to have my planning and marking done in good time.

I am sure there are more. I really want so much to change next year. And I have a lot to look forward to.

    Good Luck everyone,

    1. Pay off boyfriend's loan of £400 (will give us an extra £100 a month :j) and cheapest credit card (£300 I think).
    2. Pay off my own credit card (£2000).
    3. Achieve 2.1 at uni (achieve a 1st in project).
    4. Start kickboxing twice a week to keep anxiety at bay (especially during exam time), and to increase my fitness.
    5. Go caving once a month.
    6. Learn to drive in the summer (once and for all - it will be my third time, I haven't even got to a driving test yet).
    7. Go to uni counselling sessions.
    8. Attend every lecture.
    9. Save for holiday to mexico to visit boyfriend's sister (accommodation will be free!) after paying off loan and credit cards.
    10. Make headway on planned overdrafts, starting with Lloyds TSB then Natwest.

My 10 new years resolutions... not necessarily in order of importance... I wonder if I'll keep to them this year :S

Good luck everyone and merry christmas! :) x

  • Hey all,

Loads of great ideas floating around here! I've got a fair few things I'd like to complete by end of 2011, but the main things are:-

    • To be almost debt free (debt free date is 29/02/12)
    • To actually stick to my Sealed Pot and clothes challenges and not cave!
    • To budget much better by writing down everything I spend and planning for each payment
So fingers and toes crossed I can stick to this! Good luck to everyone with their resolutions :)

    Save up £500 - £0/£500

  • Oooh, I just thought of something else as well... I'm going to learn to make my own clothes so when I see things I like in magazines and the like, I can try to make something similar myself! So if anyone has any tips for this I'd be really grateful :)

I used to use MSE all the time I was in debt and it helped me loads, since I have paid off my debt though I have not been saving much.

My New Years Resolution therefore is to use MSE again frequently and to save save save.

This will be hard as I am planning to change career and become a teacher and will therefore be either doing the PGCE or GTP.

I will do the following in the meantime:

    - Cancel gym membership
    - Advertise as a babysitter, get some extra cash
    - Put together a strict budget
    - Will be working at my local school from Feb so I will walk or cycel there which will save me money and keep me fit
Became debt free in 2007 after having £15k of debt. Have been a stranger to MSE and now want to get back into my old MSE habits and save, save, save

I'm going to repeat everyone else again, but great posts! Flicking through this is making my list longer and longer.
    Mine are:
pay £2k min off my £3k unsecured loans
Start a sealed pot (welded closed to stop wandering fingers)
Sell off all my unwanted bits on ebay
Start looking after myself a bit more
    Stop smoking
    Start playing rugby again
    Start running again

And if this all happens...it'll be a miracle, but we live in hope!
