Brilliant thread! Looks like we all have CC issues! My aim for 2011:
1. Pay off CC debt of £1700 by end of feb 2011.
2. Save for a house deposit. Aiming for £10,000 by dec 2011!
3. Do packed lunches!
4. Do another sealed pot challenge - just about the only target i met in 2010!0 -
My resolutions:
Not to use a credit card - if I can't afford it, I will have to save for it
Save at least £200 per month in my ISA
Pay off at least £100 extra on my mortgage every month
Start a sealed pot
Go on HOLIDAY!!!! YAY!2013 NSD challenge 3/10

Thanks OP for starting this thread!
Sorry in advance for the loooong post!
2010 has been a year of change for me, have met a lovely man and we're just in the process of buying a house together (waiting for mortgage / solicitors to complete). It's the house I'm currently renting so even better that I don't have to move!
In order to help me clear my credit cards before applying for the mortgage, my Dad gave me an ISA of £11k which he'd been paying into for me on the basis that I pay it back to him. So that's my only debt with the exception of the impending mortgage (which OH insists he'll pay as he earns the most and then I'll take care of all other bills and groceries - I LOVE him!). So my resolutions for 2011 are:
1. Pay Dad back at least £500 per month
[STRIKE]
2. Put at least £250 a month into savings
[/STRIKE]
2. Transfer maximum allowed into ISA for 2011/2012 tax year
3. Save £30 a month for Christmas 2011 (presents / meals out etc)
4. Get to my Slimming World target weight
5. Get all the stuff I've sorted out sold on ebay or donate to charity
6. Don't buy any toiletries other than to replace ones used up
7. Don't buy any clothes until I need to as I lose weight on SW or unless needed for a special occasion (my 30th birthday / friend's wedding etc)
8. Don't buy any cosmetics, costume jewellery, handbags, shoes, books, DVDs etc unless I am definitely going to use/wear/watch them
9. Cook more meals from scratch
In relation to numbers 5-8, I've cleared out so much stuff this past few weeks for ebay/freecycle/charity that it's made me realise quite how much money I've wasted in the past on things that went unused  so NO MORE of that for me!
Good luck everyone with your resolutions :TThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Just two from me, for now:
- Clear the NatWest CC (£400 at £50/month, this should be easy), and then snowball onto the mortgage;

Hi all
I have a few things I'd like to challenge myself to do;
1. Stop smoking
2. Lose weight
3. Clear my credit card (approx 1,000)
4. Clear another two debts (SCS 1690, and Argos 264.00)
5. Save all 2 pound coins in a sealed pot
4. Save all reward points from grocery shopping
5. Save 50 per month onto a grocery shopping card for use for Christmas 2011
6. Keep using quidco and online surveys
7. Convince hubby to reduce his overdraft by 50 pounds per month (easier said than done)
8. Start a savings account (dont know how much to save per month, anything is better than nothing at the moment)
Think that is enough to keep me going ..... !!0
