Morning All!
:snow_laug That's us, at least a foot of snow, and I'm on the seafront!!!
Had a great day yesterday, just chilled with the cat and watched "It's a wonderful life" on Sky. Haven't had a day like that for ages.
We have no trains, planes or buses, bliss! Was suppossed to be going to France on the Eurostar today, never mind I'd have only spent money I didn't have anyway:rotfl:
More snow to come apparently, so wallpaper stripping today,:T
Something warm for dinner, not sure what yet.
Keep warm and safe everyone!
I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning all
No more snow overnight here, really icy underfoot and still so bitterly cold.
Dinner last night was the lamb casserole, really delicious it was too, we had mash, cauli/broccolli cheese, carrots and brussel sprouts. Kitchen smelt gorgeous, whilst the lamb casserole was cooking I had BM on too so lovely cooking bread smell too. Dinner tonight will be roast chicken pieces, potatoes, veg and gravy, may make a pud if I CBA.
Today will be the usual list of jobs, but really need to crack on also want to get some cooking/baking done today/tomorrow and must menu plan etc.
My bro emailed me some pics last night from where he lives, just south of Sheffield, they've been stuck at home since Monday, they have about 2 feet of snow and each morning there seems to be a bit more! Hoping at least if we have this much snow before Xmas we won't get it after .... we live in eternal hope!
DS2's birthday next week have got his prezzie and card already as can never find anything decent as they cut down on stock of birthday cards to make way for the Christmas one's, so get his card early.
I need to pop out this morning so as it's not snowing at the moment I'll do that once DS2 gone to school, then I can get home quickly and stay in the warm but get jobs done of course.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Snowed in completely now ,had about 8-9 inches overnight and my road is completely impassable. But I have lovely neighbours who have knocked to see if I need anything so I am o.k. Just had DD on phone ,she too is snowed in and can't get out so this will be the first birthday ever that I haven't been able to see her.But hopefully we will make up for that at some point. Not too sure if the Saturday trip is on or not depending on the motorways rally. We only live about half an hour from Dover but a lot of the roads are blocked not only by snow but jack-knifed lorries.yesterday a gritter drove down my road but didn't drop any grit ????seemed a bit pointless to me but I gues he had his reasons.
So another day pottering around the house .I think I will get all my Christmas cards written and ready to post.Radio Kent has just said that there will be few deliveries as its too dangerous for the posties to be out !!!!!!'elf 'n'saftey an all that .
How ever did we win a war
I don't go out because I have a walking impairment and have to use a stick and at 68 am not too steady on my feet and it would be stupid and I could break something. But young healthy chaps ,beggers belief
Oh well I'm off to have some porridge and toast for breakfast
Keep wrapped up nice and warm if you do go out
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Morning All,
No school for the boys today, but the council were a bit better organised and it was on the website yesterday evening. We've only had an inch or so overnight but it has started again and the cloud is very thick and heavy, I can kind of see as far as where Camelot is normally, but I can't even see the lights in Glasgow this morning! DH got stuck in our street coming home from work last night, he says someone further up has a JCB on their drive - if that was my OH, he'd be out clearing the snow so the neighbours could get up and down the street properly! Distinct lack of community around here
The boys and I want to go to Mr T today, I desperately need f&veg, we're down to our last three apples, although I have a few day's frozen veg still - that serves me right for putting it off last week! They are also going a little stir crazy even though they've been out playing, and I have been giving them maths and writing to do. They should be in the middle of doing their preparations for the school concert next week, and practising their country dances for their Christmas parties, the run up to Christmas is such a lovely busy time at school, I feel sorry for the teachers, who will be feeling under an enormous amount of stress next week to catch everything up. That's if the snow boogers off and they are back at work! At least if they are at home, they can relax and do some Christmas prep for themselves, I suppose.
Other then that, same old, same old here. Lovely sis and I are planning on one final carboot sale this weekend (its under cover, don't panic!!), so I will be sorting and boxing up for that. DH finishes this job tomorrow, so he has the weekend off to spend with the boys
Hope everyone is safe and well, NPM, don't panic, I am sure it will all work out. My hair is waist length and every hairdresser I have ever met says its the thickest hair they've ever worked with, and I dye it myself. It takes about 40 mins - an hour to apply the dye, and my arms ache towards the end. Lots of those butterfly clasps and a huge mug of tea are the secret - and just think how much money you'll save!(I always have three boxes to hand as well, just in case, although it only takes 2 normally).
Hugs spoons and Hi5s all round. Thanks for the song Tru.

Morning all!
There's a few more inches in kingston, still 5" max is nothing compared to the surrounding areas. I got up early to find uni is closed and my exam cancelled, mostly as so many people commute from areas with bad snow and cancelled trains. Another day to revise and work. People have been "panic buying" here since the first few flakes, I almost feel like I'm missing out because I don't need to. I may go out in search of green tea bags, but it'd be purely recreational as I'm sure I can go a few days with peppermint tea and not green tea.
I hope everyone with lots of snow, especially those up sheffield and lincolnshire way, are okay still.
noahspennilessmummy, i really hope it clears in time for your wedding. But imagine if you and OH could freeze outside in the snow for a few snaps? it'd be gorgeous, or just a light snow in the background. Fingers crossed you can scoop a cheap weekend away in the new year.
After hearing about the snow in the midlands i just gave my nan a call and where she is there's barely an inch covering the roofs! Very weird how it goes from a foot to an inch in a few miles.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Morning All
We had a few snow showers yesterday evening in West Yorkshire, but we have so much of the white stuff can't see if it made much difference to the depth.
Both schools are closed today which means a lovely leisurely morning here. Little one is up, but the teenagers are still asleep and may be for some time.
DS said yesterday he could just eat some tomato and lentil soup, so going to check I've got everything I need to make some. All washing done last night, DW also put on last thing - will ask the children to empty it - not good for my back!
DH got to work safely although the roads are ok the car park was an ice rink, as he was there at 6.40am he managed to park in a good spot for an easy exit.
Snow showers forecast for most of the day, but it looks quite bright at the moment.
Keep warm and safe today whatever your plans.

Great news NPM in years to come you'll be telling the story about all the snow just before your wedding. Not long to go now before the big day.
All the very best

NPM - I had rain, hailstones and thunder on the morning of my wedding, certainly added a frisson to the stress in the morning
Our snow doesn't even cover the grass it's so rubbish. Had light snow showers all day yesterday and a bit today and it's not added anything to it. Bloomin' cold though, very brisk wind here
Anyway good morning my lovelies
Not much going on here today. DD being a total PITA and screamed all the way to drop DS at school and screamed all the way back. I feel such a bad mummy thinking this but she's vile at the moment and being with her is no pleasure
Haven't decided what's for tea tonightMight get some baking done and I need to clean the kitchen without fail.
To cheer myself up here's one of my fave winter songs, fairly appropriate given the snow situation
