Old style daily thursday 2 december

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

The twins have there say hello to the pre school today. They are off with my wife for a look around the place meet the staff the twins can stop for an hour and play with the others there while my wife sorts out things with the staff. I think there might be tears trying to get them back out:) like most toddlers they never wont to stop when they are enjoying themselfs.

Not much going on here other than that. Im off to work in a bit iv got a cornish pasty for my lunch. My wife is sorting out dinner tonight so i dont yet know what she will be doing for it but if she asks me then im going to say corned beef hash we have not had this in a few weeks and i do like it.

Im still looking into them chicken bricks. Im trying to find a secondhand one that i like. Iv looked at a few on ebay i just need to find one at a good price. But i might end up buying a new one in in January.

Well have a great day all, Keep warm and safe.

    Enjoy:j:j

    Morning

Halight....I am making corned beef hash today too:j

Seems to have been more snow overnight and more due today:(
I think there is no chance of my hairdresser being there today.....frustrating as it is only up the road for me but it would be miles for her to walk. I am starting to think i will have to dye it myself and with the amount of long thick hair I have it is a nightmare:eek:
Not heard anything about dress or veil despite leaving messages.
Cake I couldnt care less about to be honest:rotfl:
I am supposed to be working Mon but I am going to ring work and see if I can have leave as am starting to run out of time to sort everything:o
Looks like we will be trapped in with DS again today......he is not coping well bless him.
we keep having powercuts here too and he is in a panic about that and about the amount of snow. also he should be at school so his routine has changed unexpectedly.
Just watched news......at least 15cm more due here in next 24hours.....we already have almost 2ft in our back garden:eek:.
OH walked into work yesterday and managed to walk to local boiler/gas jobs so did a few hours of work. Not sure about today.....so we will be low on money. Boy am I glad I made the decision to cancel our weekend away for honeymoon or I would be flapping about the money.

Good Morning Halight, NPM & all to follow

We have had loads more snow overnight and its still snowing :( will have a look at the weather forcast and try and see it there is any chance of it stopping in the near future.

Needless to say the kids school is closed, they have loads of homework to do on the school website so will have fun trying to persuade them to get that done :)

Myself, I shall be in my office all day and doing some ironing later. OH did go into work last night but came home pretty early as just couldn't get anyway. So he will be up early today & I have decided he can make dinner :D so no idea what we are having at the moment.

Hope everyone keeps safe and warm in the snow, take care.x

Morning. Not a snow flake here and its very disappointing. I like Cornwall, but we miss the hot and cold weather. Its cold -2, but in a few days they predict 10 degrees and rain while everyone else will be zero and snow.... I know what i prefer, although we can get about easy enough....
Work and then office party.....
Enjoy the snow you lucky people
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Good morning to all you lucky people with snow!!
Getting warmer and warmer here with a long term outlook for the same-i am jealous of you all!!

İ went to the gym yesterday and had no adverse reaction!!--i have been put to the sword by my trainer to build muscle. She has upped my weights and put me in the advanced part of the gym-the first 2 tries at this regime left me incredibly sore but i feel ok today--i might even go again today for some hard cardio work.
-Work is quiet so i have a gap of about 4 hours between my morning and afternoon session. My wife isnt about because she is taking her father to have his cateracs operated on and obviously he needs a chauffeur! which means i can use her PC at work- there's always a silver linning!!-im all heart!!--its a routine op and he will be fine--he thought he had one problem'd eye but it turned out both eyes were infected --frightening thing is that he has been driving in the nightmare traffic untreated for 2 years!
Right enjoy your snow but keep warm and safe--Gxxxx

Ps Anyone from B'MTH got any snow?? it normally misses it and i never trust the reports online because the coverage is patchy due to the micro climate that seems to exist there!!
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.

No fresh snow this morning, thank goodness, but very cold still. Our boiler had the sulks last night & we had no heating, was FREEZING! - but seems to be ok this morning, keeping fingers crossed! Waiting to hear if nursery school open, probably won't be if village high school is closed, then others won't open - most staff live far away & that's the problem when weather's bad.
Tea not christened yet, but there's shepherd's pie in the freezer or the makings for cheese & onion tart, LO spaghetti bolognese for lunch.

Keep warm all, see you later.

    A xo

    Morning :santa2:
In my calendar - a robin.

I didn't get started on the paint removal yesterday, I have no tools for it. Apparantly I need to hire a needle gun. No idea what that is, so I'll have to Google it then ring the hire shop and hope they have one :D

I've had a good sort out and the house is much tidier. I just need to find a home for those bits - you know the ones, the little things that are very useful to have around but don't actually belong anywhere, they just seem to float around the house :D

I have a large chicken in the fridge. I'll cook that this morning, along with some mash and cabbage. Nice chicken dinner for me, the rest can be portioned and frozen for the other trus to help themselves to, as and when. Can't remember when we were all home at the same time and actually ate together

Mr tru rescued some leftovers from the shop (it closed on saturday). I now have loads of loo rolls, cleaning stuff and stationery. The sprays are commercial/industrial, you can't buy them in the shops. Super strong stuff. I haven't even used 'normal' cleaners for years because of cost and chemicals, this stuff seemed to jump down my throat and make me cough as soon as I sprayed it :D

    Edit -

I've googled, this is a needle gun. Looks like fun, and very messy :D

We have snow here, but not much, it will be interesting to see how many children are late or absent because of it.
Hubby's been dropped at the station, packups made & fish fed, DW is chugging away.
I have a night out tonight & it's hubby's work do on Sunday, all I want to do is curl up & sleep, I'm decidedly antisocial in the winter.
Hubby had some good news, he had a tax rebate of over £1000, woohoo.
I'll do hubby peppered steak for tea, if I go out I won't need anything, if I don't go I can have beans or egg on toast.
    Stay warm & safe everybody.
    Hugs Hester
