The decisions were made more than one month ago, so an appeal would not be suitable.

Apologies for my ignorance, are you saying that there is a limited window of time for a rejected claimant to appeal? That they have to submit new claims?

Sometimes we have to be cruel to be kind, you have to get on with your life and as harsh as this may sound let your mother sink or swim and trust me she WILL swim. With you being the way you are (out of love for her and probably a bit of guilt and emotional blackmail from her) you are allowing her to be the way she is.
Reading between the lines it's not really that she "can't" work it's that she doesn't really want to, which is why she won't get any disability benefits.
If you want to pm email me feel free, i really do understand your situation and i wish you the best of luck in getting this sorted and getting on with your own life.

Yep, that is correct. Also, I cannot recall the timeframe (possibly six months?), but if they reapply within a certain time they will have to pass the WCA before receiving any payment.

It is possible to do a late appeal, but you have to show good cause for the late appeal, its not something I am particularily familiar with, but if you get in touch with a good welfare rights advisor Im sure they could advise further on whether there is any hope for a late appeal.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

Absolutely, the grounds are generally the same as for backdating or appealing other benefits (incapable of dealing with affairs, unaware of right to appeal etc). I can't see any grounds here.

How long until she is due her state pension? and what's the state of her national insurance contributions?

She is 57 today... Is it 60 when entitled to state pension?
And no idea what state her NI contributions are... How would I go about finding this out??
