Same with me I get paid into the grad account which has the OD i am trying to pay off, then I pay it all out again to different debts! Do either of you have seperate accounts that you can put your 'spending money' in for the month? I put £100 into a normal current account for 'me' things, I have the grad account with the OD that my wages go into (and swiftly out of again), and I have the 3rd santander account that my car finance comes out of, so I leave enough money in there just to cover that payment.
    [STRIKE]Family £400[/STRIKE] CC1 [STRIKE]£415[/STRIKE] Lloyds [STRIKE]£460[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Natwest£750[/STRIKE] £627.59 Tesco [STRIKE]£1880[/STRIKE] £1725 Grand total £2,352.59

Hiya my wages are paid into my graduate account where I was pretty much permanently in the overdraft. My bills come out of a seperate account and from next week I'm going to start budgeting weekly and putting grocery/spends/travel money etc in seperate places, just not quite sure yet. Hopefully soon I will be able to close my o/d account, I graduated years ago :rotfl:

ive been living on the OD on and off for so long now ... it's such a hard debt to get rid of that one ....

toaster i rarely drink coke or pepsi myself now ... when i first stopped drinking and i was at a hogmany party i uhhmed and ahhed for ages as to what i should drink and finally thought i was a smart !!!!! and said hey i can just have the pernod and diet coke without the pernod ... job done

so off we toddled to the party me with the bottle of diet pepsi in hand hubby with his super lager .... as the night progressed and the diet pepsi got drank i started to notice i felt really really ill so i thought right ok no more diet pepsi just water fro the rest of the night .... the next day i swear i felt like i had a hangover .... no one had slipped anything into my drink ( i am very careful) it was the diet pepsi ... since then i have drank it a few more times and every time i do i get the same result ... so i rarely drink it now

Hi, you are doing so well, please don't beat yourself up because the debt doesn't disappear instantly! It didn't appear in an instant, did it? As you can't drink pepsi or coke, how about a delicious and MSE drink - lime and soda. It's soooo cheap, low in calories and NO caffeine. Hugs, satchmo1
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Ive not had a diet coke for 8 days.
    And I'm addicted ;)
  • @ snatchmo1. You are right. It didn't appear in an instant. The debt began to grow when I got with my no-good ex. I'm a 50:50 girl but he was more of a 10:90 guy - if that. But, tbh, I'd been overspending for ages before I met him but was able to bail myself out without getting into debt. I just had no idea how to budget - the curse of learning to live on your own I guess. I'm now learning the hard way which I don't mind too much but I sure as hell am going to par-tay once it has gone. Watch me not being able to part with a penny on that day haha

@ Kei and LittleBoots. Having a separate bills accounts was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had one when I had a house with an old love. I have been hankering about having a spends account until my normal bank account is bursting with health. I think I will pop into my local branch when I get five mins (back to work next week - urghh!)

@ Elatan. You know, you have raised a brilliant point. I had two glasses of pepsi and one of cola on that night. Last night I had two glasses of cola and slept all night - yayy! I bet that it was the pepsi that did it.
  • This weeks meal planning (copy n pasted from earlier)
[STRIKE]Last night - homemade fish and chips and I loved every mouthful!
    Monday - homemade sausage caserole
Tuesday - Paprika Chicken - was cooked on This Morning and I have everything in save onions. Served with dauphinoise (sp) potatoes and veg
Wednesday - out with the girlies from work.
Thursday - errr ... something from the freezer
[/STRIKE]Friday - Nandos style chicken and salad if chappie is coming over. If not, something from the freezer. My chappie did come over and he took me out for tea.
Saturday - out with the girlies (old school friends) - pot luck tea. I'm taking Tandoori Chicken from The Takeaway Secret. Don't need to take any food - only need to take booze. I have three bottles of wine in so I am taking these. Only need cab fare.
Sunday - will think about this later. My chappie is taking me out for tea and, I don't care what he says, I am picking up the tab.

    Meal planning for next week
Monday - something from the freezer. Oh, the joys of batch cooking :S
Tuesday - haddock, potatoes and salad
Wednesday - fishcakes, potato and salad
Thursday - chappie is coming over so tandoori chicken (from my bible) with salad
    Friday - freezer or takeaway

Lot's of salad but I want to to be gloriously warm and sunny out there.

I have the majority of what I need in but it is market day so I am nipping out in a min for fresh veggies and fruit.

I did some catflap training this morning as well. As much as it pains me, I can't keep him in if he wants to go out. My only rule is that it is locked when I'm out. My older moggies will have to put up with it until my kitten is at least 11 months (in two months time). My girl is the only one who goes out for hours at a time (prolly for peace and quiet) so if she goes over the wall I set the flap so she can come back in but not go out.

  • Went onto the market and bought:
+ new cat collar - £3.00. I deserve shares in them at the rate my lot get through them.
+ I spent £11.89 on one stall. I wondered why it was so much and, when I got into my car and looked at the receipt, I saw that I spent £8 on grapes and cherries. OMG. Lesson learnt!
+ £2.00 on salad stuff on another stall. That's more like it!
+ £13.71 in Aldi. Most of which wasn't on my list but will go into meal plans for the next few weeks

Was going to nip into Sainsbury's but the queue to get in put me off.

    TOTAL SPEND: £30.10

I do need milk and, possibly, a loaf but will nip to the corner shop as there is no temptation there.

    Sounding good :)
I'm lucky as my cat seems to love her collar, maybe cos it a black sparkly one!
Your meal plans are ace, I'm going to start that next week when I come off the detox I'm doing
  • My two boys started with a black diamante and my girl had a pink diamente one but only my first cat still has his. My kitten destroyed his and my girl, well, my phone number is all over the estate! I have lost track of the number of times I have replaced hers lol

Meal planning really helps me to keep motivated and its nice knowing what I'm having when I arrive home from work.
