  • Congrats to everyone that's in - I'm envious. We've got our mortgage acceptance letter & have forwarded it to solicitor, theyhave sent out our redemption certificate, and the survey should be happeneing on the house we're buying this week (though with timing I can imagine it might be delayed a little!). What worries me though is that on the solicitors letter they say that our buyer hasn't yet instructed their other branch (we're using same solicitor company) - surely that's one of the first things to do, isn't it? There's no point us going ahead with our purchase if she's not on the ball with our sale! I don't eant to risk losing this house. I rang the EA yesterday and the day before yesterday but haven't had a call back yet...

Well, whatever house you're all in, I hope you all have a very merry Christmas anyway - at least the delays will give you all time to prepare for a proper Christmas in your new homes for next year! (grrr)

We exchanged at 11.40 am. If we hadn't done it by noon it wouldn't have happened until January 2nd due to Solicitor's holidays. It was very fraught but we got there just in time. completion is January the 8th.

Good luck to all of you. Lynz and everyone I'm still going to follow your progress.

Just a sneaky message from work as the home line doesnt work yet - we got everything in safely yesterday, keys at 4pm!

Lots and lots of unpacking and cleaning waiting for me at 'home'.

Well, might as well add myself to the list. Original plan was to exchange somewhere around now and complete on the 14th, but my vendor's mortgage documents aren't in the right place (yet) - as a result it's a case of crossing everything that can be crossed and hoping that we don't get held up more than a few days...

I'm shocked and flabbergasted. We ended up exchanging on the 13th and completing on the 14th, and I've been in my new house for a week now (despite some annoying plumbing/heating problems - just the right time of year for those, too...) - without internet access just now, though, which is why I didn't update when it happened...
Finally a happy home (and mortgage) owner...

Just got back the wood timber treatment report which was mentioned some wood boring insects may or may not now be present in the loft, cost £340 to clean the wood and spray. I have approached there EA as they are already aware of the survey. Hopefully we can sort that sorted out, I would rather not pay it, I have enough issues with being ripped off with mortgage fees and pay 2 1/2k more for the house when owner relented on a previous deal.

  • Hi lewolf and hex2, congrats you both! I am sooooo happy for you! :j

Lynz, I dare not ask what the update with you is... I really hope you get some progress very, very soon.

Poppycat, luck your way as well and hoping that all the issues will be sorted out soon as you seem to have had quite a bit of bad luck with your mortgage offer and so on.

Off to look for more curtains tonight. Argh! Help!

    carp in a word :(

Just had an email ( after being out all day ) from my sols saying that the buyer now wants some massive informatin management pack from the head lessor, that I have to pay 150 + vat for?

If he wants it, (as a search) shouldnt he pay for that?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

lynz, at what point do you give up on this buyer? To ask for loads of info at the beginning is reasonable, to keep asking for more things as you go along, unless they are as a result of new things coming to their attention, seems to indicate they are stringing you along.

If it is all to do with the shared ownership, maybe their solicitor is slow to pick up on whats needed. I guess the question to ask is, did you have these problems when buying the flat?
