Well just as we thought the arguments about completion date were over we get a call about an unresolved indemnity issue at the bottom of the chain. this should have been done weeks ago! I'm rapidly despairing about exchange before Xmas. Our sols pack up at 5 pm tomorrow until January 2nd! Somone is going to get an earful at 2.15pm this afternoon if we have heard nothing more!0

brilliant.
well as seemingly there is no hope for our exchange this side of Xmas Ive given it up as a bad job. Ill deal with it in the new year. when maybe just maybe we might be a bit more in business.
An exchange at this stage would be fab, but just cant see it happening:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Can we start a thread on the race to be for Xmas 2007? Because at this rate we'll be lagging behind in that one too. Our completion has been moved to Feb 5th.Stercus accidit0

Sorry things aren't moving your end either Lynz. I'm rapidly getting to the the stage where I've got to let go and stop caring for a while - but I haven't got there quite yet!0 -
Hi guys!
Sorry I haven't been around but we moved on Saturday and oh my god, I was in the rental flat STILL cleaning and packing when my landlady turned up. Anyway, it's been one thing after another and I am exhausted! But I suppose we HAVE moved into our new house that we love.
It's been a bit of a anticlimax I have to say... Though we still love the house, there's so much more to do before it feels like home (our sofa is only arriving end Jan and we are sitting on this disgusting borrowed sofa) as you can tell from my signature. Ha ha. Also, we had to return a wardrobe we bought cos it wouldn't go up the stairs so now clothes are everywhere in the bedroom... I am sure 6 months down the road, I am going to look around the house and think how wonderful it is but for now, I can't see it when we are still living around boxes and stuff everywhere! (And no internet!)
Lynx, lewolf... I can't believe things aren't happening for you guys yet. Fingers crossed hey!

Hi all, I just wanted to add my tuppence worth!
Had an offer on our house on 13th October and had an offer accepted on new house on the same day!
After what seemed like loads of hassle and stress we moved on 1st December! :j
After reading some of your experiences mine sounds like a walk in the park (although it didn't seem it at the time!)
I can highly recommend the use of a storage unit, it took a lot of the stress out of moving day not having to do it all at once, it cost approx £40 for 2 weeks including insurance.
My christmas tree went up in the new house on moving day (the boxes were already out so why not!:D) the house looks like we have lived here for years, unfortunately everything is shoved into the garage so we are going to deal with that in the New Year
Good luck to everyone who has recently moved or are about to move :beer:0 -
Woohoo - completed today and got the keys too. Been stripping walls all day.
Good luck to everyone who is moving at this time of year as it's stressful enough without it being Christmas also. Hope 2007 brings you happiness in your new home :beer:0 -
We made it for christmas.
Completed last friday and have surprisingly got most things sorted out and comfy already.
This forum has been a great hand in working out what to do day to day with our first house purchase, thank you all.
Now we can settle in, enjoy christmas, and then pay the bills:eek:0 -
Looks like I'm going to fail in my race to be in for Xmas, with the searches came two queries one about a new road which I'm not totally bothered about the other was about a tree preservation order which I may be bothered about depending on the tree as there is a small conifer right next to the front door and if it's that I'm not going to be best pleased as I wanted to take that out.
It was the sellers really who wanted to be out for Xmas so it seems strange I've been waiting over a week and a half for them to fill in a form from my solicitor and give information about these searches. I'm not that fussed as I'm not moving straight in I'm going to plaster and do stuff like that first.
But never mind hope everyone who has moved in has a great Christmas in their new homes and everyone who hasn't moved yet has a great New Year in theres.0 -

It cant be that. conifers grow at a rate of knots, hence the Xmas tree phenomenon.
Tree preservation orders are very seldom granted to small quick growing trees. its your old oaks etc that need preserving Id guess. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
