  • I'm glad I started packing before exchange happened. It was a risk and I kept thinking that I would be so upset if it all fell through and I had to unpack in this house. Luckily things worked out OK though.

We're now packing urgently for Thursday's move and it is taking much longer than expected. We've spent hours and hours and hours in every room. I have used over 50 metres of bubble wrap and over 100 boxes so far! It is unbelievable how much stuff pours out of the kithen cupboards - some of it has not been used since the last move. I didn't even know we'd got half of it: an ice crusher? a plate warmer with a candle like you get in an indian restaurant? a cookery book holder? Refills for spice jars that I've never even heard of! Its like Christmas has come early with all these 'new' things!!

I thought we'd nearly finished packing yesterday and then brought the stuff down from the loft and that completely filled a bedroom which was totally empty before!

I'd say its never to early to start packing - it would much worse to not be ready come moving day, or to have to rush it.

I dont think the rest of it will take that long ( she says) I really coulndt imagine having to put it all back and dont want to jinx anything by packign too early

Ive emailed my sol now with a bit of good luck she might jut get back to me

Any news any one. Nowt at my end, just had to take all our ID to solictors because we are money launders ;)

Secretary said she look into our morgage fees is solcitor has time, heres hoping. I never thought we would have to find an additional £500 for mortgage fees and £25 insurnace fee which isnt justified in my view

update from my end. Solicitor says shes left messages on my mobile. Whether she has or not I dont know I might be having probs with the mobile, not sure.

in any case, she NOW has to get a copy of the insuracne from the head lessork, which she was working on today, and I had to give her some revised figures in respect of the rent.

    things appear sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww

that seems odd? what you are choosing your completion date but have no idea when exchange is? Surely you need to know when you are exchanging so you can choose date form completion- dont you?

Apparently unless we are exchanging and completing on the same day( which we aren't),we have to agree the completion date before exchange takes place. This is so no one can stretch completion out unreasonably.
  • Yippee! We finally exchanged yesterday, so move tomorrow. Most things packed except kitchen stuff, going to do that today. If anyone else is moving with the "help" of small children, you have my sympathies...
Good luck to anyone else moving in the next day or so anyway!

  • Congratulations Leilasmum and good luck for your move tomorrow.

I see you're in Bristol at the moment - we are moving to Portishead tomorrow so maybe our vans will pass on the M5 or something?!

I learnt a new word yesterday - Pantechnicon. Its a removals van apparently!

I still can't believe all our stuff is going to fit in the truck (pantechnicon!). The estimator thought we would just fit in the standard size one and we wouldn't need an HGV. But the piles of boxes and things are getting bigger and bigger. I can hardly move around the house now - its totally mad. Luckily our new hosue is twice as big as this one :D

Good luck to everyone who is moving or still waiting for news. This will probably be my last post as I will have no internet at home after today and I won't be back at work for ages :j

I will check back in Jan to see how everyone has got on and hopefully to hear that you've all moved to your lovely new homes.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2007!
