    :j:j:jI have a snow day!!

My road was an ice rink yesterday, and then we've had about five or six more inches of snow, and it's still snowing. I was awake half the night worrying about having to try and drive, which was silly really, as I could just have rung in and told them I couldn't get out of the close - it slopes down from our house, then sharp right up hill - all north facing, so always awful in snow and ice.

OH just called me to watch a neighbour down the road trying to back out of his driveway - not a chance.

DD's boyfriend stayed over, and I'm not sure if he'll manage to get to work... the main roads are passable, but he has to get to them first. I may have to get DS1 and 2 digging.

I'm listening to the local radio station, and some woman rang in to complain that she'd seen a gritting lorry parked in MacDonald's and she thought it was disgraceful, while they were struggling on the roads - and now the gritter's driver has rung in to say he's been gritting for fourteen hours, and he's entitled to a break! He was very polite as well. I wouildn't have been.

I may very well be doing some flying today - think I'll start with the kitchen as soon as OH finishes breakfast. I can get it finished before anyone else emerges from hibernation.

JoJo - loving the story of the Fiat relocation. I'd love to see her face this morning!

No snow here just frost, our road is starting to thaw out abit.
On way to school i heard alot of tooting, turns out it was a neighbour trying to get his son to school on the tractor. So he wanted to catch me so i could take his son on in with my lot. I did wonder how they we're getting down there hill as it's just a nose dive and then into a corner. So looks like i have one extra for awhile. :rotfl:

My plans today are to get the kitchen and bathroom done. Both shouldn't take too long.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

    Morning all

Looks like it's another snow day for the whole Chaos family - it's DH's regular day off and all relevant schools/colleges are closed. DH was talking about going to work, but decided to wait until they phone and ask him to come in. I've tried my best to encourage him to set off. ;) He's now stayed in for three nights in a row, too, and the novelty is wearing off. I thought I'd get more done when he's here, but that's not at all the case.

Thanks for all the encouragement and ideas for getting lazy kids to help - I was at the point of giving up with DS1, but am now determined that he WILL do jobs today. He never argues about chores - just uses delaying tactics and doesn't do them. I'll have to outsmart him and if all else fails, threaten to dock pocket money - it would hurt, as he's been sacked from his paper round (been late too often).

It's still snowing on and off, but DS2 and I will probably head out for some fresh air later - a walk into our little town should do it. Breakfast now, then I'll start with a HHC somewhere. Could stick a pin in it...

    Stay warm and safe, everyone.

    Good morning everyone!
Well I've just looked out the window and saw the lady from the flower shop down the road walking up the street with a lovely sparkly christmas tree type display for one of the shops here (I'm guessing the hairdresser or the solicitors) . It gives me an idea.... But first I'm going to ask her which shop it was delivered to and have a nosy!
Hope everyone is warm and well, and not having to drive/go out if the roads are horrible. x

As an aside from all the talk of weather, does anyone know of a good foot wash/bath for fungal foot infections.
DH has a really nasty one, didn't bother telling me 'til tonight :eek:

So all the towels and wash cloths in the bathroom are now in a boil wash. He has been given his "own" towel and flannel, told to keep separate from others.
    Rant Over
Like Valli I come from a medical family and we've always had separate towels, but in this case I'd give him extra ones for his feet ONLY as well, and suggest he keeps them separate too. I had acne in my teens and when I started using separate towels (changed daily) on the affected areas, it really helped stop it spreading.

It might also be an idea to reduce the amount of sugar in his diet, as fungal growths (including thrush :D) are associated with diets high in refined sugars.

OH has a toenail infection which I discovered a couple of weeks ago, so we've just been through all this - I ended up buying an OTC treatment at the airport, and informing him that it would take a year to clear up with weekly treatments!

Snow here today - garage has just called to say my car (in for a service) needs new pads & discs on the front brakes, so its not going to be cheap, but worth it in this weather. I don't tend to go out much when the weather is bad, so I don't think snow tyres are going to be a worthwhile investment.
  • Morning all. No schools closed, which I think they will regret later. We have some snow but it is drifting and in the back of beyond the roads don't get gritted.

I've been up since 2 am, having a last day off, its harder setting coherent cover work than going in, even if one feels dreadful.

My list of great patheticness is...

put cheque in an envelope to pay in to bank
    wash up
    pack schoolbag

even I must be able to manage that, but off to bed now.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x
