I mopped the floor monday and since then i have had yogurt, ribena, sticky bran flakes, spilt cereals to pick up/clean. I wont mention the worktop i guess you get the point.
WHY CANT ANYONE IN THIS HOUSE TIDY UP AFTER THEMSELVES!
Sorry little rant, any tips on how to get a (slightly lazy) DH (very lazy) 8 & 5yr old to at least make there packets go in the bin! I've considered going on strike but i still need to do meals etc for baby DD so my strikes not going to start off well when i'm spotted in the kitchen cooking.
I'm fed up of nagging everyone but also don't see why i should do everything.
Tell them to come back to the kitchen and clean the mess BEFORE you start dinner.. you cannot possibly work in such a mess!!
Have a bin special for recycling and stand over them while they are in training.
Today I have spilled.. coffee dregs putting a mug in the DW, gravy while doing dinner.. and DD2 sprinkled the flavouring from the sachet for the noodles all over the hob and hasn't wiped up.. so she is doing that tomorrow.. she may as well wipe the rest of the worksurface while she is at it
..
If they won't think for themselves don't cean t up.. call them back and show them what you want doing and say how wonderful it looks once it is done and how much you love it.
Ultimate punishment in here is washing the bathroom and/or toilet floor.. hands and knees job not a mop in sight.. DS3 always does a fabulous job!
I think what pee's me off most is leaving dirty laundry strewn about.. what does it take to pop it in the basket.. we have 7 on rotation so there really isn't an excuse.. the girls bedroom has been much better since we did a big clean and I keep forcing them to do it befoe it gets too bad.
DD2 is 13, and totally lazy she is my work in progress.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Amazing how little, light cars can slide on icy roads when a few miffed people (including men from the stuck van) spot how stupid the owner has been and give it a gentle nudge

Well, whilst the school is most probably closed for the rest of the week (it's on the top of the downs and apparently under 15 inches of snowfall, plus 10 foot drifts from the wind that howls through from the east), the Head has been updating the website from home. He got a What-on-EARTH-were-you-thinking-of? email. Hence the closing for the rest of the week, 'because despite our closing early, some students still experienced difficulty in getting home'. "mad" A little bird tells me that after he posted that on the school website, she saw the snow plough skidding (only about 10ft, but still ) down the only access to the school - backwards.
We are, however, fine. We took a slow walk into town, figuring that most people will stay at home, and the main rush will be in the next couple of days. Got plenty of extra food from Lidl (we usually buy every couple of days, but our stores were beginning to run low), a visit to the butcher and the fishmonger. A great day to buy fresh fish and meat, as the fishmonger and butcher didn't know whether anyone would come in to buy it, so reduced it enormously. One huge slab of cod and one of salmon later, DD was digging in the garden like a reindeer to try and locate the dill so I could make a cream sauce for dinner.
Cats have been issued with collars with bells, so the bullied one has advance warning of the meanest one's approach and his range. I have never seen her so relaxed!
OOOh - idea for those with small squeaking things who hate going to sleep:
Tell them that they won't get presents if Santa finds them awake. Then put belled collars on animals on Xmas Eve. Bet the littlies hide under their covers every time the cats/dogs trot past!
Kitchen's still clean, as are the bathrooms. Tried to get more decorations (well, outside lights - I've never had them before & I must be going soft in my old age) but nothing I wanted to spend out on in the shops today. Should be able to get to IKEA tomorrow (LOVE being so close to it!) and see what they have instead.
But it's still snowing, so this may not happen!
Keep warm and safe, everyone.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

TOOTS LR star please
Productive day here finished the LR & hall, made more soup for the freezer, ordered xmas gifts very nearly finish just a couple more to get and i need to go into the shops to do them.
I seem to be going to school tomorrow as Clacks have decided to open high schools between 10 & 3 for S4/5/6, they are expecting them to walk as there are no buses - knowing the kids they have no chance of getting many, from my village to the school its over 8 miles and a lot of them will have no intentions of walking we dont even have a bus service operating so they have no back up there.
Hoping the over night forecast is correct - should be 10cm - I dont mind heading out to work but would rather do it when i knew that there would be kids in school. Oh well will see what tomorrow brings.

Hi Peoples,
Hugs, sticks, snowshoes to all in need.
Back safe from decluttering DD back to Uni in Farnham, 'tis a tad cold out there.
As an aside from all the talk of weather, does anyone know of a good foot wash/bath for fungal foot infections.
DH has a really nasty one, didn't bother telling me 'til tonight :eek:
So all the towels and wash cloths in the bathroom are now in a boil wash. He has been given his "own" towel and flannel, told to keep separate from others.
Rant Over
DS1 was 1 skin layer from being diagnosed with trench foot! He has months of treatment with daktarin which was great at first then we progressed to Lamisil from the quack for 6 months..
Feet were washed thoroughy dried and left to air for as much as possible.. keeping them covered kept them moist but the air dried them and deprived the fungus of moisture and killed it.. it also helped with the healing on the raw skin and cracks.. shoes were replaced and he had 4 pairs so he could alternate and not wear the same pair 2 days running. It took months to heal and the smell was putrid.. literally rotting flesh!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Regular washing in bicarb of soda and lots of air time drying, does take ages though to clear up.
Oh and yes keep chaning/washing socks and shoes the more the better as they breed quickly. Apparantly fungus survives quite well in the wash so really a 60 is ideal. A Little bit of vinigar in the washing also helps to kill them too lol 0 -
re the 'own' towels
we do that -my mum was a nurse and it's how we were brought up - so we always have our own. There's a hand towel in the bathroom too.
Over the years it has, IMO, cut down on cross infection, although both the Vallikids had impetigo simultaneously. Stomach bugs have usuallt been confined to the one person though - apart from the time wehn I cuddled a sick DD and got hers.
I also use dettol surface spray (an aerosol) when there's a sicky bug - spraying ALL hard surfaces in the bathroom.
I have written cards for the two clases I teach and other work cards. Those I need to give my mum and managed to sort, and print, address labels.
Mopped and tidied round back door. Wet (from snow) things put to dry.

Ahhh, now I see - teamwork at its best
Well done team!
Advent calendar made for DD (she's 28 for freakin's sake but mothers do what mothers do...). Ended up blagging some paper sweet bags from the corner shop. One MS Word christmas label template, some sticky backed plastic - aka sellotape - one box of Roses chocolates and a spurious pack of Rollos later, we have 24 little packages on some card on her bedroom wall, each with a date label.
Ah me....
She'd better like it when she gets home - if she doesn't I'm opening number 24 tomorrow!I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Cheers for that Pigpen, lindseykim13 andValli,
I was trying to get some idea of the time frame for this. He's due to the Docs tommorrow, so we'll see what he says and prescribes.

Pud
Time frame.. DS1's took about a year to 'heal' and posibly a further 6 months to be 'cured'.. It was possibly the worst case the doc had ever seen apparently..
