Just got in [sigh]. In the end, I walked round and got in the car with him. Just as well, really, as I knew a few more roads that he didn't and one of the only two roads that gave access to the area was closed for gas main repairs, the other was chocka with empty buses. Strange how they can manage to cause a major traffic jam by queuing up to take them back to the bus garage for end of shift, when they've been sat at the garage at the other end of the route for the entire day, isn't it?
So I got out and walked the last mile, carrying a super heavy astrakhan type coat for DD as I thought her coat would still be wet (it was).
Walked DD back to the car, only to find that a road that had been partially blocked by a van getting stuck, was now totally blocked by a muppet in a Fiat who saw the van, put her hazard lights on and got out the car to walk the 200 yrds to her house
She'll come back in the morning to find her car has miraculously slid down a side road and parked itself with about 8 inches either side between it and some BIG trucks.
Had five minutes' fear when someone sat, revving and skidding at a junction, when less that 8 foot away from the passenger window (having been parked when we got held up by someone starting to slide in front of us). But we got home about 20 minutes ago.
[must remember to add thank you cards for the woman at the clinic and the grandmother to the list of things to do]
Thank you for your support!

jjef Thank you so much for your really useful PM xSaving up £25000/£3500 by Jan 1st 2012 by selling my clutter. Remember I'm doing it for Dad.
Textiles, languages, travel and a lovely home are not stupid things to want. You have immediate family's support.Appreciate what I've achieved so far. Other people's opinion of me is none of my business.0 -
pigpen = you either need to have phone problems when you think he may do it again, keep very detailed notes or not pass on to the kids that he may be collecting them then they wont be upsent when he doesnt turn up and should he do then they get a nice surprise
That is exactly what I did today.. Last time he promised he was getting them he rang me at 2:30 (they finish at 3) to say he couldn't make it.. good job I hadn't trusted him to get them and gone off to Ikea for a stroll.. Tiddles came bounding out of her classroom excited to see her dad and found me and promptly started bawling.. even after he had text me this morning I told her it would be Friday before he came for them.. My phone stores texts as a conversation so his texts and my replies are sequential which will be great to pass to the guy at mediation and my solicitor.
knitted about 1/3rd of one blanket so on with that I am..
Washing caught up on today.. and drying.. need to fold 3 baskets of stuff tomorrow.
WM door being replaced tomorrow morning..
One less thing to think about.
I also have loads of ebay stuff to post..
Need to buy a shower hose so I can degrot myself!.. and look for a fan heater for my mother.
Collect boys new PC from my muppet parent... and install geekcraft for them

Jo-Jo - just logged on to see if your dd was home. So glad she is xx
What I don't understant is how one school (e.g. dd's) does the following when it closes before school starts - texts, on radio, on twitter, on website - this is a school of 2000. If school closes during the day it doesn't let a child leave unless it's contacted a parent via any of the above. My son's school, on the other hand, lets you turn up and see a board outside saying 'closed'. Not a problem to me as I know some of the teachers who text me. Also, it's really close. There really should be national guidelines.
Snow falling thick and fast here. Really hoping they don't have to go in as then I don't need to think about getting them home!0 -
Home again having collected DD from her friends, saw a woman driving a big BMW down the middle of the road, she had cleaned a small "letterbox" on her windscreen to see through.
So there I was waiting for her to make her mind up at the junction, (I wanted to turn right as she approached me). She opens her window and shouts " move over, I want to come through".
Now I am on "my" side of the carriageway, with traffic on my passing on my inside. Luckily the nice policeman behind me also wanted to turn right, managed to tell her if she cleaned the windows properly she should see where she's going.

Hi all, hugs all round for those who've had a bit of a day. xx
Had to travel a fair way today and I'm supposed to be heading to Norfolk on thursday, can't see that happening at the mo.
Can't see school, work or dentist being open or acessible tomorrow either, so snow day hopefully for me.Unfortunately or fortunately I can work from home.
The students across the way have built a fantastic igloo, I may take a photo of it tomorrow, I'm very impressed.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08
