Pah, don't worry about the oven, honestly, it's fine! Our oven is older than me, and possibly older than Mr Daffs - his mum bought it from her neighbour about 25 years ago, Mr Daffs has had it for 20 years, and it hasn't been cleaned for that long (unless any of his previous girlfriends were more fastidious than me - he certainly hasn't done it!), so it can't be any more filthy than mine :rotfl:

    :D

    Excited now :D
  • Don't worry about the oven all I did was put water in it and sprinked it with washing powder - and put it on low for an hour (checking the moisture) - the oven did the rest - one wipe and hey presto all gone.

:) cheery I'm excited too - kid Dad on phone a bit worried about the weather - I talked to kids who are fine - and figure there will be nosh and fun wherever they end up

They did however ask why I was cleaning oven (unusual behaviour clearly) when I said you were coming and they'd asked why they'd not met you yet - I just said you hadn't managed up last year.

Anyway Ds asked - OK but WHY the oven clean - they're veggie I replied

Why do we know so many vegetarians he asked - very perplexed

To which DD replied - Drrrrr all hippies-eco-save-the-planet types like mum normally are veggie, we're just lucky I guess.

Didn't know whether to laugh or cry

L - hope you get the pipes defrosted - we've had snow for another 5 hours now.

Wow, if I'd have known cleaning the oven would be so easy, I would have done it myself! :T :D Well done you :T

Nosh and fun wherever indeed :D Got you a cheery small present today :D Got you a really small (very cheery) one the other day - which is so cheery I thought I might just have to keep it for myself :D :rotfl: However, think I enthused over it enough in front of Mr Daffs that I *might* just get one myself from santa if I'm good enough :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have just sat and made Mega List :j :j Off to post on thread so I can cross it all off! :j :j

Wow, thanks for the tip on oven cleaning. That is on my list to do before Xmas as well.

Does it work for the racks as well?

We've tons of snow here but luckily I just need to walk in it and don't have to try and drive....think I would find that super scary!!!
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)
  • Hey there makeup

I put the racks in a solution of washing powder and water to soak 1hr or so - and scrub as I go after a bit - if the sink isn't big enough for the whole rack I put one end in then the other - althernating til its clean

Grill pan has half a cup of powder to a cup boiling water - rack in it upside down (that make sense) and the whole thing left over night normally does the job.

Do same things with nasty roast trays/cake tins after its all been caked on

I dunno why I do it this way - no access to fancy shops when I needed to clean things

The oven/trays can often have a white residue on them if you don't get it all off properly - just wipe or rinse again and dry til clean

    Lazy option always me!

OK, so I have now found out how we will cope if it snows down here :D The town I live in is built on a chalk pit with the town at the bottom & the houses coming up the slopes from there, with me being quite near the top of the hill.

We only have 5 or 6 inches so far and it is chaos

As yesterday's one inch was still here and had frozen overnight I decided to get the bus in to town, especially as they were forecasting more snow from midday. Walked from the bus station in to our very small shopping centre and when I got to M&S at the other end it had started snowing, and it is still snowing. Did everything I had to do (well almost, 2 presents not bought but will see if I can re-jig what I have to cover & pray the 2 Amazon deliveries get through next week) and four hours after I started tried to catch the bus home. Ah, no busses running due to the weather  queue for a taxi is 30 people long with no cabs on the rank  best start walking then :D

Did all the bit on the flat and stopped at my favourite italian restaurant for a cuppa before heading up the hill. Bless them, no charge :D He is soooo lovely, has even lent me a table in the summer when I had people coming and the table on order failed to arrive on time. They have already had most of tonight's bookings cancelled :( So not a good day for them.

Headed up the hill to home, the only vehicles getting up there were 4wd. Found a lady sitting on a wall exhausted so stopped for a chat and to make sure she was OK then carried on walking & arrived home looking like a small yeti :rotfl: Have had a another cuppa and am going off for a bath to thaw me out before putting on my cosy trackie and am then going to do a mega wrapping session.
