I know, I was thinking about you being snowed in - not good for you (except when its okay to curl up and watch a good dvd :) ) and not good for my tootsies :)

Stay warm, stay well - you sound like you're missing the kids already, thank heavens for good communications.

Kids still here but off on Wed, bah. I'm glad they're happy but I often wish things were a bit different - oh well! x

    More turkey for me :)

    hi pippi
i got woken up yesterday morning to the biggest flash of lightning i have ever seen, and then the loudest bang of thunder straight after. it was so loud I got a head ache!

WOOHOO about the ombudsmen making them honour their offer. Also woohooo for paying off the last company creditor, that must be an awesome feeling.

we have had 3 days of torrential rain, and it is forecast to be like this on christmas day, so may have to rethink christmas lunch on the beach!

Chev, hugs - the lightening we had here lit up the whole house and the thunder was unreal!

Cheery - :) go you and your partying. We've had more snow - getting slightly alarmed - not only can't we get out - no one can get in - but its only a short snow tramped walk from the top of the road to the house.......................I'm assuming the roads are passable - winds dropped down a bit - but its snowing again. Temperatures don't look to be getting up to much until tues (kids fly wed) If we can't get out I might have to call on your services and try get a favour and get you to give us a lift to the airport (if your car is at top of the snowy road :)) - they are flying via KW on Wed am to Glasgow-Paris I hope that its OK - glasgow doesn't look bad. OH went skiing yesterday and the road upto Inverness is clear - north of Inverness doesn't look bad either.

    :)

KC - I'm sure you'll acheive that next year - house sounds like its coming along perfectly!

I'm finishing a section :) off for a bit writing.

Good grief, this sounds like its getting really bad - I hope your heating is holding up, Pippi. My house plans have had a slight setback, as the carpet fitter's van has broken down - now its tomorrow, between sessions. I suppose at least I get today to myself - have to look on the bright side.

In fact, I'll go back and edit the post on my thread...

  • KC heating is holding up!

Very sorry to hear about your carpets - nice to have a day to yourself though.

Its fine - I clearly need to think about either finding a place to park up the track by the road (but not much room) - or think about a cunning plan, dunno what that is at the moment! Our neighbour said that we're often snowed in down at this side of the island - they have winter tyres and a 4x4. I dunno what we'll do but we'll think about a better plan for next year!

small section finshed - now onto the next one (2 more to go til finished) stopped for a quick break.

Only real issue I think for me is that the kids get to see their dad - thats my most important priority at the moment, but I can't control the airport - we'll have to see what we need to do - if its open, we'll get there - I've already got family/friends on standby on mainland incase they get any problems in Glasgow (which doesn't sound bad at the moment) - if they get the Paris flight - their dad reckons it will be OK that end.

Of course it might all thaw and be fine all of a sudden!

    :j :j to finishing off a section! :D

I'm slightly alarmed too  although we have at least decided that we ARE going to attempt the journey, and in the car too :D

I'm hopeful we'll get as far as inverness at least! :T Road up to Wick is looking a *little* ropey, but alright as long as there's not much more snow, so altogether pretty confident that we'll actually make it to Orkney this year! :rotfl: that's an improvement on last year! :rotfl:

All looking a bit insane actually *in* orkney though! Bit worried we might not make it closer than the ferry terminal! Will ring you this afternoon to sort out details and stuff - thing about airport ferrying is that we only have 2 seats in our car - wouldn't want to put anyone in danger sliding around with no seatbelts (or seats) in this mad weather... but will ring and chat to you once I've had another cuppa and a check of the weather forecast :D

We'll sort something out! Even if we have to leave the car in Kirkwall and walk to you! And then go on a sledging expedition to the airport or something?!?!

(hang on, back after I've taken Mr daffs' tea)
