Lots of snow here - I would say it's unusual but we also had lots last year after about 20 years of virtually nothing :rotfl:Pippilongstocking wrote: »

-11C here this morning - and for us, that's COLD! Cat's looking miserable - I think she's bored!
Sending positive travel vibes for Daffs & Mr Daffs as they wend their way northwards to you Stripes - hope they make it OK.
I'm desperately trying to find out if my Avon delivery is going to make it to me today. If it's not, I can almost certainly swap my work days about so I work today instead, but I need to know *now* or too late to even attempt to get there on time. We don't have that much snow, but as usual it's causing a panic far out of proportion with the actual amount on the roads. Oh, and also as usual they haven't bothered with the gritters! Grrr!

Bit like the grocery challenge but for your bin.
Perfect
Thats a really good idea!Serious moi? It's more the fact that I don't recycle anything but glass, and you're a greeny, and I *still* throw less away than you...:eek::eek::eek: :rotfl::rotfl:

Food goes to the worms. Except meat, but I eat everything when I do meat. Stealth worms at the moment though - keeping a very low profile in this weather....

Poor little worms, diving away from the light! I needed to put my compost in the bin this morning (onion skins smelling the place out) and the lid was frozen on  luckily there isn't much in there yet, so I just pulled it up and put the stuff in that way. I've never had the lid freeze on like that!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hi all
Had a harrowing journey into work today, was almost driven over by a lorry, thankfully the driver decided to turn onto the verge. Certainly rattled me! I also suggested we cancel a work meeting which would have involved a bit of a journey, not essential if you ask me.
We seem to have loads of rubbish, though our bins are collected fortnightly on a rota between the recycling and household. Both bins are usually full each fortnight. We also put our fruit and veg waste in the compost bin so it's not full of that and take glass to the glass bank. Makes you wonder what it's comprised of, mostly cat litter i'd guess at the moment as they refuse to go outside in this weather.0 -
Hello again,
not been in for a while - been making & writing out christmas cardsI send to those people I wont be seeing & also give to a few neighbours - it's been a tradition as long as I've lived here & it entrenches the sense of community which I wouldnt want to change.
I'm definitely up for a bin challenge if I'm allowed to join ?
Been recycling as long as I remember & compost anything I can. Our LA has been collecting glass, tins & textiles for a while now & as from end of January is to start collecting plastics, cardboard, tetrapaks, food waste, batteries, mobiles & spectacles :T
It wont make any difference to what I actually do, it just means that I can be lazy & have it collected, rather than doing the plastics & cardboard on my way home from work ( once I remember it's actually been in the boot for 3 days)
Our bin collection will go fortnighly which I think will be a challenge for some of the people as they are soooooo lazy they jump in their cars to go to the local shops ( five minute walk) & I caught someone putting their excess rubbish in my wheelie bin one night . I'd have minded less if they'd asked & didnt have one of the large family sized ones while we have the small one.
Sorry for hijack - wastefulness gets my goat ( would love a goat, actually, but that's a whole other hijack story) Ok, I'm leaving now0 -
