Oh dear Pippi, good job you've not got goats in your field or you'd have no clothes left!  :D

Oh dear indeed, Pippi - hope you've found your washing (with no Icelandic ash on it!). And I hope you're not in Greenland yourself, along with the cowpats ...

Keiss! You're an astronomer! What was your thesis about? Tell all, tell all. I'm possibly the only counsellor/therapist in the world with a postgraduate diploma in astronomy :)

Oh my lord Karmacat, what a small world (and we should know!).

I did my Masters at Jodrell Bank:
OH Masers in Cepheus A,...and yes, I did get to the top of the Mark 1a telescope (or Lovell as it is now called!).

I worked two summers at ROE before that, and did my final BSc project there, commuting from St Andrews every week for numerous months, tricky during a train strike...lots of buses and stops in Dunfermline bus station I seem to remember! :(

So what was your area of study then??

My first (and one and only!) full-time job was at RAL working with Starlink...great fun!

Oops, sorry if this is gobblydygook to you all...we astronomers love our capital letters!!! :rotfl:

Now that's the first time I have described myself as an astronomer for ages. A broken back, moving to Holland (then back) and children have distracted me somewhat in the last 28 years :o.

On the way however, I have picked up an HNC in Garden Design and a teacher qualification (PTTLS)...so being a councellor/therapist doesn't seem strange to me at all! :D

Sorry Pippi, seem to have wandered off into a bit of reminiscing. Must be my age! ;)

Off to bed now..the wind has died down here...hope it has up with you too...sounds like it was a dreadful day!

Wow! Thats way above my standard, I'm afraid - my little distance learning diploma course was half of a foundation year, so no thesis as such - I did do a "project" - weeks and weeks of star sightings - which was fascinating, and I had a weekend at the study centre - it was run by UCLAN (Lancashire) - they have their own astronomy site with lots of portable telescopes and an 18" in a dome - saw a sunspot live, with filter of course, developed my own picture of the moon, fun stuff like that :)

You had a broken back ???:eek::eek: you poor thing!

Pippi - hope you're okay - I suspect your electricity may have gone off?

Hope you got some work done today while invigilating Pippi.

I've been in North Wales for a week with work. Very windy up there but not as windy as you Pippi. Glad to be home although not glad to be back in work properly due to "politics" going on there. I am def considering a new job next year. Just need time to decide what I want to do.

Love the fact that Pippi's OH bought himself a sports car. Good for him. I turn 29+1 next year and told DH I want a new car for my birthday and he agreed but unless something drastic happens I can't see us being able to afford it :( but he has said I can have one so I'm holding onto the dream for as long as possible. It'll be my reward for paying off all our debt by the end of the year (hopefully)
    Goals for February
    Declutter 2/50
    Money Made £0/£200
    Overpayments £0/£200
