    *Money update*

Huzzah - somehow with money tetris - I've enough in the rent saved to pay the rent - :) we will at least be OK until the summer holidays :)

Billed for 18 hours teaching (nightclass in 2010 and this year) all got agreed at work so thought best strike whilst iron is hot and anyone changes their mind! No idea how much - but I'm glad I can bill for it :)
6 hours invigilating done this week so far more today - nice to have some work! Am going to put in time sheets quickly and hope that will help get us doon sooth in holidays
Covering for the garden guru when he's off to France - I'm just watering but that will take a bit over the 5 days he's gone so that might be a wee few hours more
Been asked if I'll do a day or two gardening with two different folk - weeding and a general tidy up now and later in season for dosh which is nice need work out when to do those
No plant sales at the mo all on hold - concentrating on thesis stuff (draft in, needs major reviewing and then submitting in 6 days - no pressure eh?)

Bank - I've 27.43 in my account (Fat controller not very fat at the mo), Lloyds £65 left in account, - under o/d limit that Ok too, paid another 50 to cc lloyds today
Capital one - 1795.42 - put £50 to that today
    Lloyds - £653 - with £50 today taken off

All not looking brilliant but slowly coming down - car not paid yet - not had the bill. But all DD's off and car has petrol - food in cupboards etc :)

I'm hoping they will tell me soon if I've an interview for the school assistant job - it was an internal vacancy so dunno if they do those quicker or slower :) Doesn't start until late Aug but be nice to know if I'll get an interview :)

Excuse my dull money post if I don't write it down I forget it all and get in a muddle - and we wouldn't want my good mse ways to go to the wall would we?

    :)

Oh now you do have my attention - I'm a genstat slave - can't say that I understand it all much except to say that I know enough to know I need to ask a statistician alot!

Thank you for your lovely comment - nice that you've delurked :) I weigh everything - I think its the scientist wannabe in me. How else can you know that what you've done is working or not?

I'm very glad you admire my goodlife ambitions whilst they are a bit gungho and (In my mind) maybe a niave maybe - but who wants to grow up :D

    *morning all*

Thank you for the welcome. There seem to be a lot of geeks around here! I've never worked in BioScience but I gather genstats was originally designed for measuring something in wind turbine development.

Growing old is compulsary; growing up is not. I'm sure the exit of MrX#1 was largely due to his telling me to "Act your age." :rotfl:
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

So, so true - this was to Keiss, but it really applies to all of us.

What's wrong with sultanas??? DS2 eats them instead of sweets/crisps/other nibbly stuff....much healthier! :D
    Hear hear :j:j:j

Managed to get a bit of weeding done tonight, as well as burying some chopped up comfrey where I will be planting my french beans...they seem to like it, and have always grown well with this treatment. When I came inside I was shocked to see it was ten to ten! It was only just getting too dark by then. :o
Rats, I keep meaning to buy comfrey root - I could grow it in the front, to do that at the back...

I love the north in the summer...wonderfully long days..even if the weather is carp. I worked in Norway one summer...now that was light!!! Didn't make it up to Trondheim though...one day!
    Double wow ....

Agree with you Pippi, your weather has really been awful this [STRIKE]May[/STRIKE]
    year

As for having a nursery..I would love it..I think! I did consider it ages ago, but not quite sure how I would approach it. I suppose I should have a serious think again..but not tonight, as I'll never get any sleep!
In my previous house, with so much garden available to me, and lots of chichi restaurants within 4 miles or so, I seriously wondered about growing exotic mushrooms for a living, but then my own personal little debt crisis happened, and it kind of got lost. But I wonder ....

Speaking of which...night night, sleep tight....see you all tomorrow sometime.

Thanks again for all your encouragement....you're all so wonderful! :A
People are great on here :T:T:T

Thats me too! "Old", but not "up"! :D:D:D

ETA - Pippi, I think you did really well with that response, by the way - obviously, a person who posts that sort of thing isn't genuinely interested in the material, they're just trolling, so I think you toned your reply just right, good for you.

Hi Starnac, whats going on at your work?

 one of the staff was reported for something he didn't do. some of the staff who don't really like him all made statements saying that he had done really bad stuff so he got sacked over it. it just makes me feel uncomfortable working there now cos I wonder what else they will do if they set their mind to it.

Pippi that poster needs to get a life himself. if your post was that boring why waste any more of his time commenting on it??? PS I didn't think it was boring

having a good day today. DH didn't have to leave for work til about half an hour ago so we got to spend some time together just the two of us as DD is in school. that was nice. yesterday evening it was quite sunny so the 3 of us went out the garden (i use that term very loosely - it's more a yard than garden) and our veg is coming on lovely which is good as most of it is in containers and we haven't got a greenhouse. only 2 of our lettuces have come up which is disappointing as our tortoise eats quite a bit but 2 will keep him going for a bit but the rest is coming on nicely. felt so pleased with myself that i had to take some photos. we've even got tiny tiny strawberries on the runners that was growing inbetween the patio slabs when we moved in.

hope everyone else is having a good day too. i have to go sort out June's budget. not looking forward to that as money is looking a bit tight.

Pippi - I just had to join the gang in supporting your positive and restrained answer to the 'Numpty Trousers' respondent. You're too nice though, something shorter and sharper would of issued from my keyboard! Anyway, on a more positive note, I wanted to let you know, that despite having been faffing about with gardening for some [STRIKE]years[/STRIKE] decades now...... I've never been good with basil - despite loving the stuff. And now I'm pretty sure, from your post where I have been going wrong. I cannot keep it going past it's 'first flush' (homegrown or store bought), and I think it is because I am a <ahem> reluctant hairdresser - so thankyou, your pictures and dialogue taught me something. And coupled with the fact that you grow basil for the dear cellist - it was all in all a great post! I do hope the comment won't make you alter what you post in the future - as it is actually your blog!

Karmacat - um, no need to er, spend any money buying comfrey, erm, anyone with a 'Bocking 14' (doesn't self seed if you want it just for the green manure potential) plant could send you a root slip or two. Erm, I have a Bocking 14 plant...........If you want the version of comfrey with the blue flowers that spread all over the place, my neighbour is very generous with theirs................... I think it wouldn't be too late (although the season is 'advanced' IYSWIM) to still plant some - they'd come for next season if they don't 'go mad' this season - but I'll defer to the professional plantspersons here present on that matter!

Karmacat - I'll get onto it soonest. Of course, your planty package will not be half as professionally presented as if it were coming from 'Peedie Plants' from the islandy of orkney flowers!!!! So please don't be too disappointed!!

You should look out for something 'brown & shrivelled' heading your way next week! I'm just wondering if i can't get the slips tomorrow, whether to wait until after the BH w/end??? Hot sorting office type places not conducive with baby plantlets??? Any preference?
