The autoganzfeld experiments weren't that stringently controlled see http://www.skepdic.com/ganzfeld.html

I am a true believer and do not require proof that tosh is tosh all I need is faith.

Complete and utter rubbish, fraudsters each and every one - these powers exist only in fantasy.

    Also on the list:

    Pretty much anything new age
    Homeopathy
    Ouija Boards (Ideomotor effect)

I don't believe in ghosts either ;) Though I don't doubt people have seen them, what they see is often down to the brain rather than anything spooky.

Btw, if anyone can prove these things are real, feel free to take the Randi challenge just like all of the famous psychics have(n't)

There is plenty of research available that does connect the quantum theory with the psyche.

Again we are in no position to call it tosh without first proving it to be tosh. The most we can do is disbelieve it.

Again yes we can call it tosh. Its the job of the person claim to prove what there saying is not tosh not the job person claiming it tosh to prove what there saying is tosh. Otherwise we'd all still be believing in unicorn, elf Santa, Flying spaghetti monster.

Were back again to this argument from ignorance which people just don't seem to get.

Find me some of this research then that from independent credited researches back up by proper evidence not just some person claims.

With the Psychics/medium lark were not talking about stuff that we don't current have a model to explain. There no proper evidence to back up these people claims at all they fail again and again when tested. Hence why no ones been able to claim James Randi Million Dollars price, heck he doesn't even except people to go though a proper scientific test.

Until there is proper evidence that they can do what they can do it tosh.

If I claim my car can do 1000's miles on litre of fuel your going to say I'm talking rubbish and ask for proof.

Burden of proof always sits with the one making the claim.

Sorry, but as you cannot prove your claims categorically, I say your talking a load of tosh.

Its only fair is it not, the argument works both ways. If you claim your car can do a a 1000 MPH, I am more likely to say "WOW - how does it do it?" rather than assuming you are talking rubbish.

When it comes to the idea of religion, UFO's, Poltergeist, Ghosts, Goblins, Pixies, Wizards and Witchcraft, I can only say "I dont know", I may claim an individual claiming to be "gifted" is a fraud, particularly if caught out, but I cannot discredit it completely, simply because until I know for sure, one way or the other, I am in no position to say it is tosh. Unless of course you can convince me with a shred of evidence that it is indeed "tosh", all you have to offer me is your opinion.

Do I believe in Psychics? Not really, but I cannot discount the idea. Do I believe in ghosts? I dont know, but I do believe in an afterlife. Do I believe in God? I would have to say I dont think so, but I do believe in life after death and a higher realm of existence, if I am wrong, there is no harm done as I wont remember it anyway ;).

NOT believing in something at least to me, is being open minded, should someone prove a claim, then I am prepared to believe, even if it goes against my own beliefs. I would not call anything "tosh" unless it has been proven to be, like the idea of a flat Earth, or the Earth being the Centre of the Solar System. Such past beliefs I can safely call "Tosh" as they have proven to be just that.

Except that if an event has occured it is reasonable to assume that evidence of such an event exists. In such cases (UFOs are a great example), is perfectly reasonable to take the absence of proof of its occurrence as positive proof of its non-occurrence. You are unfortunately in argumentum ad ignorantiam hence your stance holds absolutely no water. Read Introduction to Logic by Copi to understand.
