Anyone else been to a psychic? I've been twice and both times they have been rubbish. Anyone here been to one that they were convinced by? Or are they just preying on the vulnerable?

I've been with friends hree times and I don't give any cues, hence they can give me nothing. I just sit there blank faced and don't even say yes or no, one asked me to leave as i 'had a difficult aura'.
Had a very bad experience with one I visited with my aunt and mum after my nan passed away, who basically told us straight out he was using us to practice on so he could get into 'working with footballers' (!).
Definately preying on the vulnerable I feel. My aunt is really into this and goes to psychic and medium development weekends and has been for years, yet as much as I love her , she isn't a medium and has not developed these skills.
I'm not a total sceptic though. I have seen and met Gordon Smith, the scotch 'psychic barber', which was an odd experience.
I so wish it was all true but have yet to be convinced.0 -
Depends on your point of view
I would say preying on the vulnerable and that some are fantasic cold readers but then I have met people who have been to some and swear they are the best ever.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

I know a couple of Psychic Mediums who have done various television work and they are both very good at what they do. When I first met Ian he told me various things during a reading that I didn't know about until I asked a family memeber. It may just be guess work but I was impressed with the reading I was given and i've since worked with both mediums I know on various ghost hunts and they seem pretty accurate with the information they have come out with. This could well be that they've googled the location we were at but I know on 3 different occasions they didn't know where they were going until they arrived there with us.
There are certainly people out there who con people and prey on the vulnerable though which is sad, then there are showmen like Derek Acorah who put on a good show but I certainly wouldn't believe a word he says.If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -
Psychics and mediums are frauds who prey on the vulnerable, the naive and the stupid.
Believe in science, humanity and that which you can see, touch and interact with. If you have to "believe" in something, it probably doesn't exist.
Just my opinion! :beer:0 -
Psychic's and medium's are nothing but fraudsters.

I guess some people go to them when they are at there lowest ebb,and would do anything to believe that they are in contact with someone that they loved who had passed away recently.
I suppose you have to take them on face value, but i believe they pick up on little non verbal clues that you give out unintentionally,if they give you some sort of reassurance then go to them.
i have never been to them and never would,i would much rather visit my fathers grave, sit down next to him and give him all of my problems,i have done that on many occasions and although he can never solve them,at the time it was good just to share things with someone who will not and cannot critisise.Forum spellcheckers are the pitts.0 -

I believe in them, i went to see one when i was married i took off my rings hours before so i wouldn't leave any ring marks and removed anything that could possibly give me away, i said nothing except nodded to every point the tarot guy said so it was more of an acknowledgement than anything else.
He got it spot on he told me that i had got married for the wrong reasons (i had a baby with the guy and i stupidly thought it was the thing to do) and he said that the break up would happen sooner rather than later as i wouldn't be able to accept second best and was a romantic at heart, he also said the break up would be nasty due to a child - he wasn't able to tell if it was a girl as there was a major detachment (i had PND, i didn't even know at that point).
On a lighter note he told me that after everything i would be stronger as a result also true, that i would meet my soul mate in 2008 (i met my current partner then, not quite sure what defines a soul mate however) and that i would have a successful career eventually although it would be doing something that doesn't involve working with people - i am still clueless about this, i cant work with animals as to be honest i cant stand them so what else does that leave? Your thoughts on a postcard please.
Apparently he said things to my Aunt that proper freaked her out she is a very active believer, goes to spiritualist churches and everything!! So not sure if she could have been read really easily.
But my experience yeah i think some people have a certain gift, but a lot more dont and put on a front that they do and con vulnerable people.0
