When I was at college, I used to read the Students Tarots, a couple of weeks and there was a large queue, all awe struck by my psychic ability. But the truth is, I didnt have the foggiest, I merely turned over the cards and dictated from a book, i was not convinced by it, but I would just interpret the cards to fit with their circumstances.

I didnt charge a fee, but always sniggered when they left the session in awe "how did he know this or that", suckers!!!!! . I guess as a result, there is not a cats chance I would waste any money going to these so called "readers", not if I "supposedly" can do it myself.

I went with a mate when I was a student, I wrote down what I was told. I'm sure my English husband whose name begins with A would be very interested to know I was told I would marry a Mediterranean man whose name begins with Y. Absolute bunkum in my limited experience and I'm now of the belief that if there is anything out there it's probably best not to poke it with a stick!

daft thing is, a lot of these people who tell you that mediums and psychics are load of *insert appropriate derogatory word* will happily tell you there IS a god...

I think quite a lot of it comes down to people need something to believe in whether it is god or psychics. I am sure there is a reason for it but i think that may be a subconcious thing behind it.

Frauds that prey on the vulnerable in my view. Derren Brown and James Randi have both written quite a bit on how 'cold reading' and other tricks convince people they are dealing with a genuine psychic.

I didn't watch it myself (as it's bunk), but apparently there was a Derek Accorah show where he said he had a message coming through from the family's dead dog. "Yes, yes...he's here... he says. "Woof, woof....woof, woof, woof".

There was another ghost hunt thing where Derek was in a scary house in the dark. He 'felt a presence' and 'got a message' and started shouting, "Mary wants !!!!!!... Mary wants !!!!!!".

It would just be funny if it didn't involve vulnerable people parting with money, though I don't doubt that some of these people sincerely believe they are psychic.

I'm in two minds about this...I'd say that well over 90% of people who claim to be psychic are frauds, but there are one or two experiences I've heard about that have made me think twice. The most notable came from my father, who is a complete and utter skeptic. He said he knew a girl when he was at uni, who, if handed a pack of cards face down (so you couldn't see colours, numbers, etc) could, without looking at the cards, sort them into piles of red and black without making a mistake. Rather an odd thing to be able to do, and it surprised my father, but he saw it first hand so wasn't able to say it was a lie.

Is there any chance that the cards could have been marked ?,or it was just a magic trick that was passed off as being something else.

If you believe or anyone else believes in this sort of thing,then that is your choice and im not here to berate you for it,i just seem to think there is a logical answer to most things.
