4 Weeks pregnant can I survive

Talk to the fetus father. Sorry I refuse to call it a 'baby' or 'child' simply because it is not until born. (Can you tell I'm a student?) It also lessens the attachment if you do decide to have an abortion. I am pro choice, you should chose what is best for you and the fetus. My main concern is the father, if he doesn't want the fetus then you have to remember that and put that into your decision too. I personally don't think adoption is a good idea, there are already too many children that need adopting without people who can't 'live' with an abortion so have a child only for them to be put into care. If you think you can cope with a baby now and carry on your studies then go for it. But if you can't speak to Brook and also see your GP asap.0

I fail to see how abortion is ever the best choice for the baby?
Your MAIN concern is the father? How odd.
I think you'll find that babies tend not to go into long term care, but get adopted quickly. There are so many people going for abortion that there are a shortage of babies for adoptive couples.0 -
You do know the fetus has no main organs until around 12 weeks? Robert Winston done a study on it. The fetus will NEVER know so don't give me that. Of course it is for the father, the fetus is as much his as hers. Too many children are without fathers nowadays. It is not odd to worry about the father either HE IS A PERSON TOO! I hate this whole hate men mantra. Yes and for each one of those babies an older child misses out AGAIN. It's selfishness sorry, there are tonnes of children and teenagers that need adopting but because people keep having babies they are yet again overlooked.0

abby ,,,, im afraid I am going to go down the pro-abortion route. Call me a devils advocate but I didnt have my first child until I was 30 ... by then I had enjoyed lots of fun, holidays, nights out, a wonderful wedding, and many, many boyfriends before. Now I am 38, almost divorced with 2 children and experiencing huge conflicts with my ex ... this weekend I have no money at all ... I just went to Morrissons for essential milk and bread (and sausages that cost 48p for 8 - who wants to feed those to their children?) and I borrowed the childrens pocket money from their grandparents to pay for it. It is NOT A GOOD PLACE TO BE. I can imagine this is what it would be like being a struggling student (I am actually a mature student starting my 5th year of an OU degree) so if you can avoid being in this situation then please, please make the right choice.
At your early stage of pregnany, a termination is physically very non-traumatic. You have many years ahead of you to have many happy planned pregnancies.
Please MSE'rs dont slate me for my practical views ... I just dont want this OP to feel guilted into something that will could be sooo detrimental to her life.
Lots of love

ETO, you hit the nail on the head. Why struggle when you could plan it a bit better in the future? You also have your own health to worry about too.0

I certainly do not hate men teabythesea. I am no feminist. I do not feel the father has no say, but the OP is the one who has to go through with the abortion and live with it afterwards, so she is my main concern (along with the child, who in my opinion has the right to life, whether or not it is a sentient being.)
The OPs main concerns are financial by the sound of it and I have given you some good links abby to research and follow to find out how you can be helped financially if you have the child. Best of luck abby whatever you decide.0 -
It is NOT a child until born. It is a FETUS. She might decide to have an abortion and you would be making her feel bad with your anti abortion views.0

Abby, I don't intend to make you feel bad or put pressure on you one way or the other. I will bow out of this thread now as I have told you my story and given you the links for LIFEcharity and benefits help you might be entitled to: both of which helped me when I was facing the decision you are. All this bickering is not helpful.
Best wishes.0 -
Too many opinions on here go to someone like brook. Whatever YOU decide to do YOU have to live with it. Not some random person pro or anti abortion on a forum.0

Actually at 3 weeks (or 5 weeks if the OP has not inculded the 2 weeks from LMP) it is an embryo not a fetus.
You may be making her feel bad with your pro abortion views.
I hope the OP does not read through the arguments on this thread. It helps no one.
OP, whatever you decide to do, I wish you all the best. So long as you make your decision after having thought all scenarios through, you will be making the correct decision. Please do speak to someone in real life, do you have a firend who you can speak too? Or a nice uni advisor?0
