4 Weeks pregnant can I survive

I see where you're coming from MrsCrafty about it being hard work (Lord knows I've been there), but Abby surely knows it will be difficult!
You are forgetting to mention that tutors will be more inclined to make allowances for Abby missing tutorials if the baby is sick, helping her to make up work etc than if she just didnt turn up through having a hangover. You can put in for extenuating circumstances if necessary. The uni just wont abandon you! If you're worried about this Abby then speak to a student services adviser who should be able to allay any fears.
I certainly never did one wash A DAY when my daughter was small. God almighty! She didn't get that dirty!! I didn't use cloth nappies but obviously they'll be harder to clean and more time consuming. I'm not a cleaning freak so I didn't clean any more than I did before having a baby. Once a week at most. It's good for their immune system!!
If my daughter got a cold I didn't take her to the doctors, I took the view she'd survive and ride it out!
I couldn't be bothered with the rigmarole of bottle feeding and I found breastfeeding easier.
No-one is saying to Abby that it's going to be easy, but you can make it harder for yourself if you go overboard on every little thing like cleaning and washing just because you've now got a baby. They are hardier than people give them credit for and people forget that nowdays.
You have the support of your parents and even though they dont live round the corner I doubt that they will abandon you to motherhood entirely! If you really were struggling for some peace and quiet around exam time or whatever could you call on them for help? Maybe the odd day of 'respite' if you like!0 -
Anything worth having is generally hard work but that doesn't mean to say she should give up now just because it's going to be too much like hard work. !!!!!!!!
Abby you will have lots of silly aches and pains etc over the next 9 months, culminating in an almighty pain lol, just go with the flow and follow your gut instinct. If the pain doesn't seem right ring your local maternity unit, (have you been to your GP yet) .0 -
I wondered if you've been to your GP yet Abby. They book your scan. It might vary between areas of the country but in my town it's the GP who books the 12 week scan and you get an appointment letter sent from the hospital. It's usually before you've managed to get in touch with a midwife.52% tight0

Best thing to do Abbey is get to the GP , they will confirm the pregnancy with a wee wee sample . Then you will be booked in to see the midwife for your "Booking appointment" . Dependant on your personal and medical circumstances your care will be determined from this. Your Midwife will give you guiodance and help you as much as she / he can. Its important you get booked in with the midwife as she will take your bloods and do all the tests before you go for your 12 week "Dating scan " .
Care in the first trimester is essential , as it can be very scary , tiring and rewarding at the same time. Oh yeh pray you dont get morning sickness as thats horrible. But every pregnancy is different xxx

Hi
This is something I can help with!
Give the docs a call, ask if you need to make an appt to have the pregnancy confirmed (some do, some dont). If not they will either make an appt for you to see the midwife there and then or tell you to call back when you think you are around 8 weeks.
There is a list floating around on the pregnancy thread somewhere of all the appointments you should have during your pregnancy.
If you are in any pain or have any concerns then pop along to your doctor, you are carrying a little life now and can never be over cautious!!
Good luck and feel free to join the less than 12 weeks or pregnancy threads xxxSealed Pot Challenge Member 151

If you go to your Gp they will get in touch with the hospital/ midwife who will arrange for your firs scan and booking in appointment, where they will take all your details, check your blood pressure etc. This is usually the first time you will see a midwife.0

Well I already had my pregnancy confirmed at the clinic so maybe they wont need to do it. I'm dreading having my bloods taken. I'm not afraid of needles I mean my entire upper arm is covered in tattoos but nurses never seem able to get blood out of my inner elbow without having to try several times and I can't watch the little tube fill up with blood or I get a bit lightheaded.
I've started looking at places to rent from July onwards, I think I can get a two bed tiny house for between £100 to about £130 a week, the more expensive ones are two beds with a spare room. Obviously I'm looking at student retails rather than "professionals"
My mum has said she thinks I should finish this year and take a year out and move back to Kendal whilst the baby is small. The only problem with thatis I'd be unemployed and I mean can you really just live in a house with a baby and no job?? And if you move somewhere how do you suddenly get somewhere to live without a job
Money money money.

Don't asume you will need a 2 bed place for straight away. Remember cot death guidelines reccommend you keep baby in ur room for first 6 months. We lived in a 1 bedroom flat when DS was born and his cot was in our room for nearly a year (until we finally moved to a bigger place - we saved a fortune by putting off this move for a year). I found the advantage of having such a tiny flat was you didnt get carried away buying hundreds of over priced / unecessary equipment. We bought a cot, pram chest of drawers and a car seat. We borrowed a moses basket from a friend and bought a new mattress for it, but a baby can sleep in a cot from birth too.Me debt free thanks to MSE :T0

I guess but then I'd need to find a 1 bed plac that's not tiny. A lot of the student ones are not studios but just as small. Don't think I qualify for council housing being a student.
I'm feeling nauseous today, ive had a really bad cold and so maybe haven't noticed. I've not experiencing vomiting just feel rough!Money money money.
