    good evening all

I contacted the Police this morning at 10.30am and must say I feel a lot safer now, knowing that they are prepared to help me. I never doubted the Police but I am old school and thought I would be wasting Police time using 999!! I have a log number and been told to 999 if any more trouble and they will come and take him away for me.I feel safer now. At least everything is down in writing and logged. Thanks guys for being there for me last night I really really appreciate it :)
I have just come back from work and feel tons better about the situation now. The agreement runs out in January and I aint renewing it and I am going to inform the L/A that too as I believe he is claiming benefits. If he starts on me again in any way shape or form I will just get the Police to move him out. I must admit I was worried about any repercussions but they have assured me there wont be, I am also going to arrange with the Police to come and sit with me when I tell him AGAIN I want him to leave as they have advised me to and give them enough notice to arrange for an Officer to be present.
My mind is at ease now and I certainly feel better about things.
I am going to inform my family tomorrow and they will be relieved I am sure.
Once again thanks and if anyone needs any help on the B/R forum give me a nudge;)

Sorry have only just seen this thread as have just joined. I'm very pleased it's all turned out well for you. As a police officer myself I'd just like to emphasise the above. I know there is a lot of negativity regarding the police in this country but 99% of this view is unjust and driven by our media. Every police officer I know would break their backs trying to get to a call like this as quick as possible. We take issues like this extremely seriously and there are whole departments dedicated to dealing with the problem. You have done exactly the right thing informing the police. The address and your details would be flagged, put on intelligence and despatch systems, it would be risk assessed by detectives who are experts in dealing with these sorts of scenarios, and any calls from you in the future would be met with a Grade 1 response. I am glad you got a good response from the officers you dealt with and I hope anyone else in the same situation would do the same. Believe me the police do care....I have read other posts on here saying 'the police love a fight' or 'it will be good for police statistics to section him'. Firstly there are no statistics or targets for sectioning people - it is a very unpleasant, upsetting and time consuming process that you get absolutely no thanks for and is something that will not get you any praise or 'figures' at all. And yes I am sure there are some young police officers who enjoy getting 'hands on', but the training we have is so detailed and regular that only official Home Office techniques and moves can be used. At the end of the day no one wants to hurt someone else but if violence is needed to fight violence then surely it must be supported. And I would be lying if I said i had never got any satisfaction or buzz from wrestling with a violent criminal and apprehanding him. But that is very different from 'loving a fight'.

Anyway sure I won't change many people's minds but again I'm very glad you've got horrible issue sorted and can move on and enjoy your own home :j

Thinking of you today, Sugarbabe. Sounds like you are ready for the last act of this particular drama, I hope it goes as smoothly as possible.

(((((Hugs))))) to you and your dog, not long now before you can consign the whole nasty experience to the past.
  • Beej71 - many many thanks for your input. I appreciate your comments and can understand, but we all have our opinions on things and personally I have never had any negativity from the Police - but I am old school when we were taught to respect the Law, sadly this doesn't always apply these days.

And your comment below I can understand fully, its a shame some of the public give you guys a bad name.

That is a very honest comment and that to me is job satisfaction. I do feel a lot safer with Police assistance in all of this.
    Thank you again :)

my lovely dog seems to be back to her old self again- I've not seen her tail wagging like this for a couple of months-so she is happy again:)
Makes me so angry to think what he has done to her:mad:

Your dog can obviously sense the change in the atmosphere a) now that he has left the house and b) now that 'mummy' is feeling more relaxed again.

Thinking of you today, Sugar. You DO sound alot better already in your posts (which shows exactly how much of an effect this was having on the household).

I'm glad you and your son enjoyed a peaceful meal out. Make it a regular thing!

Will wait for your report later tonight. Take care
  • Hey Sugar

I don't believe we've come across each other on the forum before, as I don't use the ones you do and vice versa... anyway, I have just sat and read this thread, and couldn't leave without posting my best wishes for you...

You sound like a very strong lady and I admire how bravely you've tackled this situation, I was scared just reading it so can't imagine how terrified you must have been. And when I read that this man was abusing your dog, I felt physically sick.

Good luck for later today, am sure it will go smoothly, and if not it's good to hear you have people on hand to help. I'll be checking in for an update - take care of yourself xxx

Also, please keep a log/diary. I would suggest an e-diary that you regularly email to someone that is close to you. This will ensure that somebody else will have easy access. This is important for sanity checking + evidence if required.
