Kent is full of locations and there are tours available on various websites. But Knole House in Sevenoaks is one of the best with loads of films, most recently: Burke & Hare (opening and closing scenes of Edinburgh market place), The Other Boleyn Girl and Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (the town had signs saying "P4" to direct the crew!) People turned out to see Johnny Depp but he came and went during the night!

Village of Turville, near High Wycombe has the windmill that was used in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. I think also it might have been used for some of the Vicar of Dibley stuff. Good pub there as well!

If anyone watches Cemetry junction, by Ricky Gervais, the town scenes where they are seen coming out of the pub were filmed in Woodstock, Oxon in the main street that leads to one of the entrances to Blenheim palace.

Used as a the outdoor scene for Downton Abbey. Very nice place... Check it out...

Inbetweeners is filmed in Ruislip. The high school is actually Ruislip High School and the shopping centre they visited in the last series was The Chimes in Uxbridge

Just up the road is Headingley, where Fat Friends was filmed (that was before James Corden became an obnoxious, irritating ****). I've almost inadvertently walked onto a few Emmerdale scenes as well in and around Leeds.

As for films, The Damned United was filmed at Elland Road Stadium, Cookridge, Armley, Adel, Beeston and Headingley Stadium

To the East, we've had Rita, Sue and Bob Too (filmed in Bradford) and The Railway Children (filmed at Oakworth).

I know they were filming Pirates of the Carribbean at the Old Royal Navy College in Greenwich. Even got a glimpse of Johnny and his stunt double filming!
Think Sherlock Holmes is going to be filmed there soon too...

That's mad about Misfits filming in Thamesmead, I work there as well!

Unsurprisingly to anyone who watches the show they film Waterloo Road in Rochdale, unfortunately the pub they use has recently closed, but if you are approaching the Rochdale exit from the Leeds side of the M62 and look right, just before the junction you can see the school they use, Thornham Middle School. I'm not sure it is worth getting any closer than that though lol.
