Trouble with all these companies is that they are too big. That affects them in all ways you can think of from never speaking to the same person twice to them all not getting to hear new rules. Small is beautiful.
  • I had the letter today re price increase to standard tariffs - trouble being that I am supposed to be on the online saver 7! I wouldn't mind but the day of switch over (which I only found out about by chance - as made a call to them about something, and was told that our gas was switching that day!) I asked them if we were definitely on online saver 7 and they confirmed that we were. Now the letter says we aren't.

Still not had date for switchover for electricity (applied middle of November) and no access to online. Complaint made last week about electric, time to answer calls, and fact of no online access. Promised call with date for electric switch over - but not had one.

Fired off email to them today letting them know I am not happy, and it tells me I can expect a response within 10 working days! So far it really isn't looking good - now I know why I have never bothered to switch before.

I have received an update from EDF.

They do recognise and acknowledge the problems that Customer's on OS7 are experiencing. They have developed a process on their new Customer Service System to cut out the need to set up accounts on 'Standard' prior to transfer to the online tariff. The new system will allow an immediate set up. It will be functional in around two months time.

In the meantime, Customer's may still receive bills based on Standard tariffs, until their records are properly transferred and set up. Guidance to Call Centre staff, has once again been issued that these situations should be rectified and rebates given.

I don't have any information on the migration of customers to the Online System. Many of us are still without access and the original information, I recall, was it could take several more months.(September?)

I am grateful to my contact for being kept in the loop of information.

Unfortunately, not a great deal of it helps the current OS7 customers, although hopefully, getting our rebates should get smoother as the message is filtered down.

As in the post above mine, where customer's are still struggling, I can only suggest you are doing the right thing in giving them the detail of your problems to correct, along with your complaint about the poor level of Customer Service.

EDF are still considering the question of a Company Rep on this Site and they have received very strong representation from me about the advantages. Amongst them, that this monkey, doesn't have to pass on what the organ grinders should have been doing over the last few months.

I do hope lessons have been learnt. :(
  • Thanks for the update backfoot

Site down until Monday for maintenance

Earlier in this thread people have said they were told the 2'nd of March price increase does not apply to the online saver version 7 tariff.

I phoned them this morning and they said this tariff would increase by a similar percentage to the standard prices but she couldn't tell me what the prices would be because their systems are down. She said phone back on Monday.

So I am wondering who else has asked about this and whether the answer depends on who we speak to at EDF.

Why does everything to do with energy suppliers seem like a very dark art viewed through a glass darkly ?

    Gas

Standing charge 24.37p per day.(excl. VAT)
2.639 p per Kwh (excl. VAT)

    Electricity

    Depends on Region

    Midlands is:

    26.47p per day (excl. VAT)
    7.79p per KWh (excl.VAT)

I imagine you haven't been properly transferred to OS7 and have been overcharged. Ring and they will issue a rebate.

Tariff prices are shown on Page 8 of the leaflet 'Cheaper bills and competive prices until December 2011. You should have received it with your contract documents.

Still no reply from my complaint via e-mail about the wrong tariff letter on OLV7 electric.

One ray of sunshine though, Quidco has received the £50 for signing up to EDF OLV7 so I'll soon get my grubby hands on that part of the 'bribe'!

I have been looking at energy helpline and I cannot understand why EDF are still rated as having good customer ratings and low levels of complaints.

As far as I'm concerned they have been and remain utterly rubbish with regard to this switch. I'm also wondering whether they are in fact in breach of contract as they have failed to provide on-line functionality for this on-line product. Do you think there is a case for them not to apply the cancellation penalty if people want to switch away from them because of this?

    'Condition 3 :

By signing up to OS7and providing an email address you agree to be transferred to paperless billing once it becomes available. We will give you notice and relevant details when they become available.'

I understand the frustration many of us are experiencing but I suspect they will argue the above.

It's your choice, but while the price remains the same on OS7, you will probably have to pay a premium and the exit fees to switch.
