Have you tried another option? Try going through on a billing enquiry, you will get to someone. I admit their automated service is a mess, I tried to enter a meter reading online but my account number was too long so I phoned up to try and enter it on the phone. The options kept going around in a loop so I selected another random option that finally got me through to a person.

(Incidentally that person said the last digit of the account is a 'check' digit and not required when entering an online reading, so why doesn't EDF simply either change their website to allow the entering of this extra digit and avoid confusion, or scrap the digit? EDF are certainly not going to win any prizes for online innovation).

My swictch apparently happened in December, still no online access, no bill, and I received a letter yesterday saying standard prices are going up!

Like others, although I signed up to Online Saver 7, I've just received a postal bill on which they've charged me using Standard tariff (bills 11 - 17% higher than than they should be). So, I'm in the phone queue to customer services along with seemingly 1,000,000 other people...
  • I have just spoke to some idiot over the same issue, who seemed to make up their terms and conditions as she went along.
Basically I was told that everyone who switched to OS7 would first be put on the standard rate for anything between 2-4 weeks after which, when the account was authorised?, (whatever that means) would then be put on the OS7 tarrif.
When I asked was this refundable she said NO, but at their discretion it could be refunded back.
She could sense my anger I think because she then said that she would see that my account was credited the difference and it will show on my next bill.
She also said that all this was mentioned in their terms and conditions, but could not quote it directly back to me as she could not find it .
I shall watch this space with interest.

That's the way it was MoneyPenny, before Backfoot stepped in (haha) and got them to agree that everyone should start on OS7 tariff immediately. The person you spoke to obviously hadn't been told.

Don't worry, they told me exactly the same last week.

The silly game goes on and on but at least they are correcting it.

Why do they have to keep making a song and dance of it ? If they are amending it, why do they keep going through the charade of quoting this untenable clause.

    Uggghhh :(
  • I seen light at the end of tunnel today after waiting 25 minutes to speak to a EDF Advisor, She said I would not be able to get me online before i get the "Letter" from the "Computer" at this time I actually joined in with her when she said "We are migrating systems" and explained I have heard this 5 times now even from here superiors. She agreed to put me on Online in which to her words " I should not be doing this" :S why ?. However aftrer everything was going well my Log in needs validated to which my validation key does not work !.

Come on, in the heat of the moment, this has been very bad but when you calm down, you will see that emotion got the better of you.
