Wow what a couple of days!! On Sunday I was coming out of the evening service at church when the power steering went on the car. Lucky it was about 8pm as I was stuck across the road. I thankfully managed to force the car into a parking spot and rang my mum to fetch me. Bless her she was in her pj's. Anyway I was gutted. This week I've got 3agency shifts which I need the car for. DH rang the car manufacturer who said it sounded like an electrical problem. electrical doesn't sound good does it? DH has got it booked into the garage today to have it looked at but I've had to catch the train to my shifts this week. It has been so stressful. I don't know how DH does it every day!!
Anyway I've been worrying a bit about how much it will cost. We have some savings but it's all earmarked for other things and I don't really want to have to dip into it. I came home from work yesterday and There was an envelope that had been pushed through the door. All it had was DH and my name on it. I opened it to find inside another envelope that said "Starnac* take this with God's blessing" *not my real name obviously! Inside the envelope was over £100 in cash! there was no name on the envelope and the only note/explanation was what I've put above! The handwriting is not one I immediately recognise and I am gobsmacked!! I can't give the money back as I don't know who it was from (which I assume is the idea) it really is a blessing with the car problem. I am just so amazed and overwhelmed that someone would do this for me!! For no reason. We've hardly told anyone about the car so no one knows about it really! Yes it was me Cheery and do you know? Since Lent started and I've been doing all these random acts of kindness I have received so much random kindness in return. One week two people gave me bunches of flowers for no reason. I never get flowers, then 2 in one week. Both kids Easter bonnets were made by someone else just because they wanted to. I've received gifts, people have bought me lunch. All for seemingly no reason! It's been amazing!!Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

That's a really heart-warming tale starnac - thanks so much for sharing. It is great to hear that there are still generous, thoughtful folk abroad in this world and quite frankly is such an antidote to all the *news* that seems to make the papers/tv/internet, which never seems to be good.....
:T Bravo to starnac's guardian angel :T
Here's hoping that the mechanics at the garage are *undercover :A's* too - and get the car fixed pronto and to within the available budget

The mechanics were indeed :A 's Greying. A friend's dad works for a high end garage around here and is willing to do the work cheaper than we were quoted for (at a cheaper garage) if he can have a go on a certain facility at DH's work for free. So swap agreed the car is booked in for Tuesday evening
More kindness news however, an elderly friend (I do some (unpaid) admin work for him occasionally, typing, photocopying etc) gave DH an envelope with some letters to be typed saying "this is just between the three of us" Inside, along with the letters, was some money "to help with the car bill" I am absolutely blown away. DH argued with him saying there was no need but he insisted and would not take it back. So the garage bill (for us) will be smaller still

Oh Starnac - another lovely person gracing your life! - how wonderful!

It has certainly opened my eyes. I think I need to carry on my RAOK past the end of Lent, which is actually fast approaching.
I have a plan to doorbell ditch a box of goodies this week on the doorstep of the person I suspect *may* have gifted the first lot of money. I also want to leave a bunch of flowers on a random car at the supermarket/ in a car park in town, haven't decided which yet. I've also got two boxes of chocolates for a friend and her mum which I plan to drop off tomorrow. That's about all my big things done then.
I have actually found that just by being open to being kind to a person/stranger that opportunities present themselves pretty easily. Offering a lift, carrying a bag, helping a mum with a pram up/down a step etc. I would urge everyone to take one day and look for opportunities to be kind to someone. It will make you feel so warm insideGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000
