Morning all. I have a child free, work free day today. :j and do you know I woke up this morning feeling crappy!
sore throat, headache, earache. Typical. I can't let that get in the way though as I have loads planned for today. I've got sewing to do and fabric sorting. I also want to pull my wedding dress out of the attic ready to be upcycled  It's our 10th wedding anniversary this year and I want to wear it to go out in. So I'm thinkin to shorten it to knee length, a petticoat underneath, add some straps, a bolero/shawl thing maybe and it will make a nice going out dress.
That won't be done quite yet though as I've got other things that need to be done first. Our anniversary isn't til September so no rush. I just want to get it out of the box so I can try it on  and measure length.
Lovely and sunny here too so washing on ready to go on line when it's finished. Payday in 2 days woohoo!! :T
What date in September? We are the 8th but it will be 9 years this year for us
I have to admit, my blood ran cold when you said you are doing that to your dress. I literally couldn't do it to mine. I have this fantasy that DD or a grandchild will want to wear it for their wedding. Foolish I know!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Ours is the 3rd. Sorry. I didn't mean to make your blood run cold. I have no particular attachment to my dress in the sense that it was very me and I really doubt DD would want to wear it. I would rather make her something that is "her" than her to feel obliged into wearing mine. Plus once it's altered it would still be wearing but a lot more fashionable and would probably get more wear knee length than floor length. Plus it's just sitting up in the attic not doing anything!
Although I just tried it on and I can't do the zip up  I need to lose this flubber now or there's no point doing anything to it :eek:Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

I'm such a hoarder I think that's why I couldn't part with it! I've no doubt DD will want to wear her own dress.
If it makes you feel any better I doubt I fit mine either as I'm more than a stone heavier than I was when I got married!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Ooh, I'd love to see what you do with your dress! :j :j You're so creative
Great idea to get it out of the attic and wear it :j
ClearMyDebts - you're going to hate this but we used to dress up in my mum's wedding dress  She lopped the bottom off (didn't hem it or anything) and added a string of those fabric daisies round the top :rotfl: She was ludicrously skinny when married, so it fit us kids nicely  but never fitted her ever again :rotfl:
(and there was no chance of either of us wanting it - first of all it never would have fit, and secondly she got divorced when I was 3 so it felt a bit jinxed :rotfl: )0 -

Ha ha Cheery, my Mam did the same with her dress. It was so small as she was only 19 when she got married. We wrecked it on her!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Morning all. I've loved the wedding dress stories. My mum divorced when I was young too so never kept her dress.
Well it's the end of the month so let's have a look back. I didn't set any challenges this month, mainly because I forgotbut I did pay off £539.25 :j
I'm pretty pleased with that to be honest. We could have paid off more than that as DH had quite a bit of overtime paid but we need pretty major building work done quite soon so we are trying to save as much money as we can to pay for that. It's a job that we knew needed doing but it's getting to the point where we can't ignore it any longer.
The company who have quoted us for the work offer 12 months interest free credit but we are hoping not to have to take advantage of that, it would be nice to be able to pay for it upfront. Unfortunately it may be out of our hands, depending on how serious it actually is :eek:Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
