On the up side to having to jump in and deal with anything, there is no office politics and stuff like that as it doesn't really affect you.
Personal care is a tricky one. It's obviously not nice for the patient anyway but even more so with staff you don't know. I tend to talk the whole time :rotfl: seriously though I talk about the weather, the pj's they are wearing, what they had for lunch, anything. I find if I can get them talking about themselves, their family, their lives etc it takes their mind off what I'm doing and it seems done quicker. Doesn't always work but most of the time it does xGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Yep, talking can help. Although I once was a PA for a disabled woman who had to ask me to stop talking while I was helping her in the shower cos it was too early in the morning and she'd only just got out of bed
:rotfl: I'd been up for an hour and cycled to her house and was full of beans, and she'd only just opened her eyes :rotfl:

:rotfl: yes this is a problem too! :rotfl: I personally hate overly cheery people first thing in the mornings too!
Boy am I tired today. I had a phone call about 4pm yesterday asking if I would do a night shift at the hospice last night. *yawn* I am very close to 36 hours with no sleep now. Roll on bedtime!
The hairdresser is coming tonight to give me and the kiddies a very overdue haircut! DD has been clipping her fringe out of the way for weeks and both DS and I look like wild people!! She comes to the house and only charges £6 each so it's not too bad raeally.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Ooh seems I was just telling you about our haircuts. They have been done now. We are all able to see past fringes now and it takes half the time to wash them too :rotfl:
I have had another agency shift and have another one booked in for Sunday night too. Funny how two shifts can be so different! The first night shift I did I barely sat down all night, but the next one a couple of days later and we hardly did any actual work. The regular staff caught up on paperwork while I did [STRIKE]tedious[/STRIKE] less important stuff like dating forms and organising diaries etc I don't particularly mind as it gives me something to do and frees the nurses up to do the important stuff.
Loan payment has come out today so that's £146.07 paid off the balance. I was thinking about it the other day and as much as I'm a bit disappointed that I haven't paid off more, it's actually not that bad considering it's not even a year into a five year loan! A lot of people would be happy to let it run for the full 5 years and so would be no where near the amount we have paid off. Let's try to look on the bright side

Thanks Cheery
Thursday is our quiet day. DS doesn't really like doing anything on thursdays after 2 days in nursery. He doesn't even like getting dressed to be honest so he took DD to school in his PJ's. At least at his age most people think it's cute. Bet I wouldn't get away with it :rotfl:
DD has dancing tonight. That is budgeted for and I should get paid tomorrow from the agency. Some of that needs to go to my mum and then hopefully the rest can go to the loan.
DH has a big bithday coming up next month and there was nothing he really wanted. I've been saving some money for a while as I know that he really wanted a big TV (ours was tiny) and as we don't have a TV licence it would make sense to have one that connected to the internet for uTooob and eyePlayer etc. I got confused at all the options so I just asked him if he wanted one instead of trying to surprise him. He was really made up! Anyway, long story short (ish). He saw a really good one in the Arg0s sale. Really big reduction in price but I was a little bit short in my savings as I had reckoned on another two months to save. My mum has an Arg0s store card and offered me that to buy it before the sale ended which I did. I paid her the main chunk of it when her statment came (9months interest free) out of what I had already saved but I need to pay her the remaining £70. It has worked out really well as DH is so pleased with his present and I am pleased with myself for not only getting him a really good present but for taking the time to save for it (even if it didn't quite go to plan)Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Well I didn't get paid today after all. Apparently my time sheet hasn't been authorised by the hospice. It's stupid! It's all done on line now, so I fill in my time sheet online, which I send to the agency, who send it to the company to be authorised then I get paid on the Friday. I much prefer the method of getting them to sign a paper copy while I'm there!! It's happened twice now where I haven't been paid Because they didn't authorise it on time! I'll have to wait til next Friday now (assuming they authorise it by then) :mad:Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

My timesheet was finally authorised yesterday. So I should be paid friday. But last week's timesheet hasn't been authorised yet and I've also worked another shift for them. It's a bit of a pain to be honest as I had banked on being on the friday after I had submitted the timesheet. But that doesn't seem to be working
I have actually been offered some dressmaking work. I haven't sewn professionally for years as I gave it up after having PND after having DD. I did a bit of a favour for a friend and she's come back to me with a very big commission of over 20 dresses! I'm trying not to panic as I know I can do it. I just need to plan my time and get it done. I've got a ToDo list on the go so that's the main thingGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
