...I came home and made some little biscuity-chocolates ...

Baking must be in the air! I was stuck 'working' from home yesterday as the trains were in a rightstate! Once I'd completed all that could be done remotely, I set to baking an across the pond recipe for Butterscotch-Oat-Walnut-Cranberry Cookies! Brought some in to work today & they went down a treat - good thing too as the recipe made 6 dozen! Even after a dozen for the little girl across the street, that's 4 dozen more than OH & I need.:D
    4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)

New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)

Well we are mid month and I havent set any October goals yet :o Been distracted by big birthdays and such (the big 7 no less!) Anyway I may just have a "make it up as I go along month" this month. I will keep track of loan payments though so that it's easier for me when I do my monthly round up.

    October Payments £200

I must admit we went over our £150 food budget. Last saturday I held a coffee morning at home to raise some money for charity and I had to buy cakes and things. That pushed us over budget. Oops :o
    Goals for February
    Declutter 2/50

Wow - the big 7. Saw the pics, she looked thrilled with herself :)

I think going over budget for charity definitely is noble Star so I wouldn't worry too much.

How is the second job going?

She was so happy. She didn't get many presents as the ones she wanted weren't cheap (Elsa and Anna dolls for starters!) but she was thrilled with what she had and that meant a lot to me.

I haven't had any work with the agency for about a week. They have rung me a few times asking for short notice shifts i.e "can you get there in the next half an hour" but I've had to decline those as DS is home with me most days.

My mum thinks I am trying to do too much taking on a 2nd job on top of everything else I do. I always try to put my family first no matter what and I'm finding it hard to find a balance between earning more money and being at home with the kids all the time. DS starts school 2hours a day in January (I hope anyway) His application has gone in but there are only 8 spaces. so I will have more time then to keep on top of housework and earn some more money. I've just always wanted to get rid of the debt while the kids are too small to notice the struggle.

How's the house hunting going? Does the new mortgage rules affect you?

Well she looked thrilled in the photos anyway! Evie is a bit young for Frozen yet but everything attached to them is so expensive isn't it?

I was going to take on a second job last year but my Mam felt similarly to yours about it. I had an interview and everything but decided not to go for it. Sometimes it is frustrating knowing we could get rid of the debt quicker but I like us having family time together at the weekends. I'm like you, I couldn't take a shift at the drop of a hat either.

If the house proposal goes through, it will affect me. But on reflection I think it is a sensible measure, as house prices have gone up 25% in a year. It's unsustainable.

:hello: cheery. Thanks for popping in. Kettle has just boiled so I'm having a cup of tea and a catch up on here while DS is watching paw patrol. He was so funny this morning. He came into our bedroom and his first words were "no school today. Me day off" :rotfl: obviously 2 days of nursery had taken their toll!!

His speech is coming on great now and apparently he's starting to play with the other children in nursery too which he didn't before. :D his speech therapy appointment is this coming Monday too so fingers crossed xxx

I had an agency shift last night. DH had the day off and I had a phone call at lunch time asking if I could get to the hospice asap. DH was fine with being abandoned ;) so I went. Talk about busy though. I didn't stop all night. Time flew by but I was so tired getting home. To make matters worse the bypass was closed so I was diverted all around the outskirts of the city  I hate driving places I dont know! It's all extra money though I suppose.

I'm off to check banks etc. See you later x

Glad DS is doing well :):) And well done on doing an agency shift! I always admire agency workers, being able to just hop right into whatever situation they're plonked in and work effectively with whoever and whatever is going on. A real skill, and very undervalued! It's difficult to give such personal care anyway, and must be even harder when you're not there every day and haven't built up the same relationship with the patients and staff. Good on you! (and yes, it's all money!)
