Aw ((()))) tis natural to feel wanted, but as you say, if they get very little time with their dad it's good that they want to see him - just think how sad it would be for him if they didn't want to (sorry, I hope that doesn't come across as me trying to make you feel guilty, I'm really not!) xx

:j for your extra £15, and fresh yeast, what a treat! :)

No not at all. I know exactly what you mean. I do think it's lovely for them. I really do. A small part of me, however, is a slightly bit jealous that I get all the sulking and tantrums ;) and he gets the nice cuddly bit. I know I've got the better part, being at home with them and I do try to step back when DH is home so that he can have quality time with them. I know I would want it that way were I at work all day and he was at home.

I did go into town this morning. Banked my cheque like a good girl. Who knew the banks in our town don't open til 9.30am on a Wednesday? Staff training apparently! I actually had to queue OUTSIDE the bank :rotfl:

Anyway cheque banked and I popped to the bakers to ask about the yeast. I had looked up recipes on the internet to know how much I needed. I asked the woman if they sold fresh yeast and she said it was 10p an ounce. I asked her how much in grams and she looked at me blank. "It's 10p an ounce my love" :rotfl: thankfully I have a converter app on my phone. So she served another customer while I consulted the wise phone of i. I needed 1ounce :rotfl: She accepted my container to put it in and it cost me the grand total of....yep you guessed it......10p! It'll keep in the fridge for a week.

:rotfl: at your yeast experience :rotfl:

Aw, yes I understand about you getting all the tantrums!! I think I'd be a teensy bit jealous too :)

Morning all. Bright and early this morning. DD is already in school and DS is eating his breakfast.

I'm feeling a bit like a bad mum this morning but DD went to school happy so I can't be really ;)

DH gets paid in 4 days and we are absolutely skint. The only money we have is the money I've got saved for my night out on Saturday to celebrate my sister's birthday. (My mum bought tickets for the theatre and I'm paying for the meal beforehand) Our cupboards are looking pretty bare and we only had enough milk for one of the kids to have breakfast this morning :o (hence the bad mum bit) To compensate for that DD went to breakfast club at school this morning. It's free and she'll get toast, cereals and fruit juice/milk. I feel bad doing it but she'll have a better breakfast there than I can give her this morning, she loves going and it leaves the last bit of milk for her brother to have breakfast.

Bread will be made today using the fresh yeast I bought yesterday and that will do for breakfast tomorrow and Saturday morning. Sunday the kids have breakfast in church while I get the room set up and my lesson prepared.

We have pasta and spaghetti in the cupboards, some sausages and chicken breasts in the freezer so we won't starve. This is only temporary and we'll be able to do some shopping next week after DH gets paid.

This financial re-jigging was supposed to better our situation but it has made it worse in the short term :o So loan over-payments will be at a standstill until finances are a bit less squeaky!

Bit of a "bitsa" tea last night. Pretty much anything we didn't have enough of for a full family meal was cooked and shared out! We had sausages, chicken, beans, and veg. In various random order ;) not the best but we won't starve.

Twink's hobnobs have been made this afternoon as a treat and a "something nice" DS has been enjoying them and I'm starting to worry that there won't be any left by the time DH gets home :o

This morning was supposed to be DS's parent and toddler swimming lesson. He sobbed his heart out when I mentioned going. He does it every week saying "no swimming" it's really upsetting having to take him like that, so I've cancelled the lessons. I can't put either of us through that every week :( it's not fair

On a positive note we ordered some prints of our holiday photos and they came today. So that's cheered me up. :D

Well what a weekend. We celebrated my little sis's birthday a bit early. The women of the family (me, mam, sis and DD) spent some of the afternoon at a bath bomb making workshop, then we dropped DD off with her dad, got changed and went into Cardiff for a meal and a show. We had a fantastic time.

I have to admit though I'm clearly not used to going out anymore. We shared a bottle of wine and didn't get home til 11.30pm. Up early for church then a full day with the kids and I was shattered last night. Then another very early morning this morning as I had my first shift with the new agency. I had to leave the house at 6am this morning! I spent all day on my feet too so have cried off my run this evening. I will take DS out in the running buggy tomorrow instead. He loves that and it's a good workout for me as he is quite heavy!

My shift today was in a hospice and I'm really surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It was so peaceful and calm. It was lovely. I have to submit my timesheet by this friday and will be paid next friday. Plus I can update my challenges too. Good news all round :D

Glad you had a nice day at work today starnac :) Bath bomb workshop sounds fab :) And PLEASE don't think you're a bad mum - all of us run out of milk at one time or another, and it sounds like DD got an ace breakfast :) So be kind to yourself xx

Thank you cheery for your kind words. The bath bomb workshop was really fun. We all came away with 2 bath bombs each and 3/4 bath mallows each depending how you presented it (I got 3 short and fat ones while my sis got 4 taller but thinner ones) Apparently we got over £15 worth of products and the tickets were only £10 each and were a present for my sis. :T

Our new budget should start working from yesterday. Banks are already looking a bit healthier and we finally had some spare to do some shopping. I have budgeted £150 for shopping, based on cooking and baking from scratch to ease the finances and eek out the stores. Today we spent £55.97 and I would like to keep track to see if the proposed budget is realistic or not.

  • The bath bomb evening and following grown up evening looked lovely.

I'm so glad you're not starving. I'd have to send the hens down. Imagine the packaging.

    :)

Fingers crossed you keep to £150 its tight for us, which we spend around that (aside treats) but sometimes I go over - cooking from scratch is cheaper and seems sometimes more expensive as there are so many bits but I know how you like to make sure you look after the tiddlers.

As for the swimming - good call, he'll come good. Never ending with kids eh?

Must do your tiddler some hen photos :)

    Have a great day.

PS I'm always out of something in this house, usually patience ;)

Patience can be a bit thin here too Pippi :o

Been a right busy day here, tidying and sorting. DH removed the radiator in the kitchen so the new (relocated) unit can go there. It just needs the worktop (found in attic) fitted and we've got a brand-new-looking kitchen for under £100 :T it would have been less than that but the sink really needed replacing!

Thanks to all the sorting we managed to declutter 2 boxes from the attic, one huuuuuge pile of papers and a small bag of random stuff :T

The house is really coming on now.

I have got some lovely friends. I've just had a text from a friend saying she's picked up a Rapunzel costume in a big supermarket for £5 for DD if I want it. DH has a big birthday coming up at the end of the year and as a celebration he decided he wanted to take the kids to Disneyland Paris. We've been saving for almost a year and have paid for the hotel and parks and have got enough saved for the travel cost (being booked this weekend) and the 2 passports we need (forms filled in, ready to be sent)

Anyway this friend goes to Florida every year to Disney so has been giving me tips. She told me that a lot of the kids wear princess costumes while they are there so I've asked mam and sis (and us) to each buy DD a princess costume for Christmas. At Christmas then we'll tell her that we are going to Disney. (We are going in January as DH's birthday is end of November and bookings were very expensive due to christmas) Coupled with the ones she's got, she should have enough to wear a different one every day if she wants to.

Princess costumes are not the cheapest so to get one for £5 is a bargain. It was so nice of her to think of me when she saw it. :D
