Afternoon everyone. We've had a nice day up my mums. She gave me 9 eggs off my step dad's chickens in exchange for kisses off her grandchildren
I think I will make some cakes tonight for tomorrow's dessert. She always cooks for us so hopefully it'll be a nice thank you too.
So let's start the month as we mean to go on. £101.20 paid off the loan earlier on. It won't show on the official balance til Monday now but I can live with that.

Evening all. I withdrew my PayPal balance today and moved it across to the loan. Not much but £19.09 is better than nothing.

Afternoon all. We have been busy here this week. DD has been going to a holiday club each morning with DS's godmother and DS is still going to nursery 2 days a week so DH and I have had some time to get stuff done. DH has started rearranging the kitchen and we have sorted through both kids' bedrooms and the playroom. It's so much easier when the kids aren't there claiming each toy is their "favourite" when they haven't even played with it for months :rotfl:
We have thrown out a box full of broken bits and have got boxes to go to friends and he charity shop. We bought some colourful storage for the playroom too so not only is there less stuff in there but it looks nicer than toys thrown into empty nappy boxes
We still haven't finished yet. We've got plans to paint the dining room. (Just needs a last coat) we'll hopefully do that one evening this week. Then Once that's dry, everything that has been cluttering up the kitchen can go back in there. I can't wait for it to be finished.
As a result of all this activity my August decluttering challenge is going very well.

Hi Starnac,
Well done on the decluttering.
I have had a day of cleaning the house from top to bottom and now want to declutter again.
DD2 started for me today as I heard something heavy being dragged up the stairs to find she was hoovering her bedroom :j She then emptied all of her drawers and sorted them all out. We did her underbed boxes a few weeks back and all her clothes so her room has been completely decluttered!
The kitchen is next for me. We also need to paint it!

Hi OF :hello: well done to DD2 for doing her bedroom.
I've been up in the [STRIKE]attic[/STRIKE] my sewing room today and I've managed to declutter 2 boxes of wool that I have had for years. I won't use it so I've decided I might as well donate it to charity so that someone else will get some use out of it. It's not doing anything useful sat in boxes in the attic is it?

I hope no one minds if I have a bit of a moan this evening. Yesterday we had a visit from the health visitor regarding DS's speech therapy referral. She agreed that yes he did need speech therapy and she also agreed to refer him for a hearing test due to my history. Both of these things I am grateful for as they are exactly how I wanted the appointment to go.
Anyway I had a phone call this afternoon from close (elderly) friends of ours saying how upset they were about DS. At first I didn't know what they were talking about but then I realised. They are upset that there may be something *wrong* with him  The husband has hearing problems from working in a factory all his life and is always complaining about what a struggle it is to be hard of hearing. I have wore hearing aids since I was 11. They were a godsend to me as finally I didn't have to sit at the front of the class (where the swots sat) to hear the teacher. I have never felt hard done by for having hearing problems and I certainly won't be bringing DS up to feel like that should he have problems too.
They have really got my back up by suggesting that he won't be perfect if his results come back showing he is a bit deaf. He is my boy and I will love him no matter what. The results won't change how I feel about him or how I bring him up so why are they so upset? It has really annoyed me today
Sorry for the moan.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
**Hugs** he's utterly perfect and always will be.
Whether his lugs are set to supersonic bat hearing or something in between. You're a pretty special lady too and (if) there's an issue I'm sure you'll make sure he feels perfect too. Its good you're getting referrals if he needs them which it sounds like he does. My chum also had a wee concern with her wee lads speech and eventually he was tested too. (They were at wellyfest and a nicer, happier wee chap I'd struggle to meet)
Sometimes I think folks should think before they speak, especially to parents. I suspect they're just thinking of you all in the nicest of ways and are well intentioned BUT are wording it a bit 'clunky' no wonder you're upset.
Have another hug.
You're doing a grand job.
And he's better than perfect, he's perfect and gorgeous! Just like little lady and her mum.
End of smoochfest.

Aw starnac ((((()))))) have a hug lass. Must be hard dealing with a phone call like that. Maybe they were just trying to be supportive - if they've really struggled with a similar thing, they might not realise that people can deal with it *without* struggling, and were (in a roundabout and perhas not very elegant way) were trying to let you know they care. Not easy to hear though lass xxx
Very impressed with your decluttering!xxx

I think your 'elderly' friends where trying to be helpful as Cheery says. The clue could be in the way you describe them - elderly??? We are allegedly more enlightened/inclusive/understanding nowadays but in practice probably not and certainly for people who have lived their informative years in less 'enlightened' times then they may well appear to be a little unsympathetic or understanding. When I started in my line of work the term 'maladjusted' was just going out of common use for describing kids with behavioural problems and now even that has changed they have 'challenging behaviour' ( no !!!!!! Sherlock...........;)) I no longer work with children with special needs but additional needs..............sometimes it can be hard to keep up and dont get me started on the acronyms :rotfl:
Hope all goes well with hearing test. Its been identified and now help if needed is at hand for the little fella:)
ETA - I would be interested to know what you describe as 'elderly' though!!;)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

starnac - Pippi, Cheery, and Igamogam have said exactly what I was going to say when I read you post.
I too think that the clue is in 'elderly', and I do (unfortunately) think that it would be an older persons way of 'showing support'. However, as Igamogam said, we, thankfully live in much more enlightened times.
The world always has been, and still remains, DS's (and Little Lady's) oyster. You are doing a fab job as a mum, so keep doing what you are doing
