Sometimes the things kids remember *are* the things that happened because there wasn't much money. In my case I have very fond memories of pulling the settee right up to the fire (because it was so bloody cold and there was no central heating) and eating jammy toast and mugs of tea (because there wasn't much else). I also remember fondly eating 'cheese pie' many times - which it seems was just mashed potato with a bit of cheese on the top
:rotfl: :rotfl:
I didn't get everything I wanted of course - but it made me appreciate what I did get, and I grew up with an understanding of money and being willing to think about how to solve problems without just throwing money at them (although I do that plenty of times too!)
So even if your kids do remember some of the hard times, they may well remember some of them fondly - even if you don't...
You're doing a grand job, remember that

See - beautifully put by Cheery! :T
grand list there - I especially like that section in the middle...

Quite a bit crossed off. I am still debating whether it's worth buying the superhero fabric to make a dress or to leave it and see if I can find a superhero outfit from clothes I already have?
Spends
£10 piano lesson spent
£12.50 school trip money
£62 spent on resources for the junior church (receipt has gone to the treasurer and the cheque was one if the ones that went in my bank yesterday
£5 on two necklaces. My mum offered me and my sis my nan's charm bracelet and we both chose charms off it. I bought the necklaces (well the chains) to put the charms on so that I can wear them.
Can't think of any other spends.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

Thanks CMD Without the 2nd job we wouldn't be able to afford EuroDisney in January so it was a must really. The fact that I get enough left over to pay off the loan is a bonus.
I haven't really done much today. DD is in school, DS is in nursery. I had made an appointment to have my shellac nails taken off (had them done for the wedding). I thought I would combine that with my 10k training and run there (just under 4 miles away). So I dropped DD at breakfast club, which she loves, DS went to nursery about 10 minutes earlier than he normally goes which meant he got toast too and I set off.
Got my nails taken off £3 spent. I was a bit quicker than I thought I would be so was quite early for my appointment. The salon was quiet though so I was seen straight away. This meant I was out a bit early too. So I decided to run a bit further and meet my mum for her break. I called in a little corner shop on the way and was laughed at by the shopkeeper!!! He asked me if I was enjoying the nice weather. I'm assuming he was commenting on my bright red face :rotfl: 50p spent on sweets to keep my energy levels up
I ended up running slightly over 10km and knocked just over 3minutes off my PB which is amazing as I felt the run was rather slow.
I've had a bit of a pottery afternoon getting bits and pieces done. Off to get the kiddies from school/nursery soon. Then I have to go and pick my mum up from work as she very kindly told me I could drive her car home (saving me running/walking the 10k back home).
I have a meeting later on which I will take the kids to (I love my job) I *may* treat them to some kind of fast food type tea on the way to the meeting to keep them well behaved during the boring bits. Bad mummy
They don't get it often and just by being mindful of my spending this month I have halved my overdraft. I aim to do the same next month and hopefully wipe it out altogether
