I've seen a few May Challenges on different people's diaries. I hope they don't mind that I am going to do my own
Yours was one of the ones I'd seen ^^^^
Can you track down any street parking to save yourself the cost of the parking for the 10k? I know it's tricky in cities like Cardiff, but it's often there if you don't mind walking a bit further. Whereabouts in Cardiff do you need to be?

Bute park. It's near the castle. The only parking I know near there is the pay and display on street parking

    Great start!

As for parking - check out Blackweir Terrace - it's where the University accommodation we've used for the speedway GP is in the past. It's a walk to the Stadium, but the castle is slightly nearer, so might work for you...and if you were too shattered after running the 10k OH could always come and collect You! :D

(Should have said - some of that road used to be residents parking only, but there are some spaces at the end that aren't, and also Maindy Road a little bit further back)

DH is actually working that day so I might be going on my own. Was debating the train as I don't mind walking, but a return is £6.70

But that would be less than the cost of fuel and parking, wouldn't it? So maybe worth considering... As for knowing Cardiff, I only know the bits of it I've investigated for speedway purposes - bed for the night as cheap as possible, stadium and pub opposite the stadium - that's my limit! :rotfl:

It depends if I go on my own. If my mum decides to bring the kids then the parking would be cheaper but if she doesn't want to come then I will go on my own and the train will probably work out cheaper.

Wages from my 2nd job went in today. I did an extra shift last week so got £38.68. The £8.68 went into savings and the £30 went to the loan.

Morning all. Hope everyone had a nice bank holiday?

I put some hours in at my second job then yesterday we took the kids to the seaside. DS's godparents have a caravan so we went down there. Unfortunately the weather was a bit overcast and the tide was right in so we didn't go on the beach. We walked up to a local park which was empty!!! The one on site was packed! The kids had a lovely time running about and playing on the swings and stuff. We had some lunch and it was threatening to rain so we went up to the site's indoor play area. DS was shattered by this time so his godparents took him back to the caravan where he had a nap, while DH and I "watched" DD in the play area. I put watched in " " as if you have ever been to one of those soft play centres you know once they go in, it can sometimes be hard to spot them!!

Got home last night and we had a lazy tea. I made some chips and just put them in a big bowl with some bread and butter on the side and everyone helped themselves, no forks, no table manners required ;) it was lovely.

Quiet day today. DS is playing with his fire engines and DH has taken DD to the dentist (his choice, he asked if I minded him taking her!) I have put a wash on and done all the dishes from last night!

Just a pottery kind of day today I think

Ahhhhh! First cup of tea of the day! I have scrubbed the kitchen- literally- with a toothbrush and good old bicarb! Sparkly surfaces now! No one is allowed to do anything in there apart from admire my handiwork :rotfl: we've had lunch and are having chippy tea at youth club tonight so it should stay pretty much like that til DH gets home!

Nice work with kitchen-scrubbing! :T Your day yesterday sounds excellent too - we did a bit of seasiding ourselves over the weekend!

Splitting the second job wages like hat seems to be working well for you - great to be able to tick two boxes - savings and loan - like that, too!

I'm finding it a bit difficult tbh. I really really want the loan gone and want to throw every single last penny at it. But our washing machine has been teaching us a lesson I think. Twice now it has stopped mid cycle and refused to unlock the door. We have had it for about 10 years so I can't really complain. However the first time it happened, all I could think about was how here was no way we could afford a new one. We had nothing. It would have been overdrafts or credit cards. :o

Thankfully DH called the plumber we use at church and he fixed it for £40 :T since then I have tried to make sure that we have enough in the savings to cover any further mishaps like that.

We don't have the full quota of savings we should have (car/present/house etc) as we are saving £60 a month to cover the big holiday next year, but we are getting there.

But on the other hand I feel guilty when I don't move the full amount to the loan.
