Mushy peas and pasta - hmm, not a fan of pasta, but open minded!

I'm not a fan of mushy peas yuch!!

I have both kiddies at home today. Had a phone call from DD's school yesterday saying she wasn't well and could I pick her up. She's okay today but she's still not completely herself and it is friday so I let her have the day off. I know I made the right decision as she hasn't moved off the settee all day and that is not like her at all. She has been sat under a blanket with her brother watching films on l0vef1lm. None of us has got dressed and we don't intend to either (apart from poor DH who had to go to work)

Both gas and electric refunds have gone into the bank so a grand total of £255.30 paid off the loan yesterday. I also realised that my figures were out (not sure how?) so I could knock another £44.01 off the loan total. It's always nice when a miscalculation works my favour ;)

I've started my 2nd job now too. Well I've been shadowing this week. I will get paid for the shadowing but not a full wage and that should go into my bank next friday. DH also went to pick up my rota on his way to work earlier as I start properly next weekend.

I have a monthly holiday savings target I have to meet to pay for our holiday to Disneyland Paris next January so the 2nd job will pay for that. Anything I earn over that each month will go towards the debt.

As it is February tomorrow  how did that happen?? I've decided I will add a running total at the end of each month.

    January
    Paid off £657.36
    Total 2014 £657.36/£9,827.73 or 6.69%

Not bad but could do better :o
    Goals for February
    Declutter 2/50
    Money Made £0/£200
    Overpayments £0/£200

I've also upgraded my mobile phone too. I initially said no as I love the phone I currently have and don't want to change it, but when I looked into it, by upgrading I could have a brand new phone for less than I'm paying now. It was a no brainer really. So I upgraded, saving myself £20 a month and I have a brand new phone (that I'm not really bothered about) which I plan to sell. It's quite a high end phone too so I'm hoping that will bring in quite a bit.

I mentioned my new upgrade a while ago. Since then I have had numerous phone calls from the fruity phone provider telling me I was due an upgrade. I told them no I have already done so. Long story short the company that had originally contact me had made such a mess up that I cancelled the upgrade with them and had to send the new phone back. I also had some very stern words with the network provider as their attitude stunk!

So I won't be able to sell the new phone as I had intended. However, I can change my phone to SIM only which would save me roughly £40 a month but I can't do that until monday. I am seriously considering this and think I will ring them on monday and sort it out. The extra £40 that I will be saving can then be sent to the loan. It won't have such an immediate effect on the loan as selling the new phone would have but in the long term I will save quite a bit of money.

I've just been checking my online banking and was pleasantly surprised to find that I can now view my loan balance whereas I wasn't able to previously. This means I can give an accurate account of the balance instead of a "best guess" one. It was £38.17 less than I thought so I can update the figures above to a more accurate figure.

    January
    Paid off £695.53
    Total 2014 £695.53/£9,827.73 or 7.08%

Oh no! As much as I feel :j that the amount paid has gone up, it is only £4.47 short of £700 :( I wonder if I can find that to make a nice round figure?

    I may be back :o

:j Well done! You know about my "thing" with rounded-up figures I think, so that's very pleasing to me! :D

Hope both littlies are now back to fighting fitness by the way?

Hi EH. Yes kiddies are fine. DD had a weird weekend. I had to fetch her from school Thursday lunch time as she wasn't well, she still wasn't right on Friday so I kept her off. She was fine Saturday and Sunday morning but then Sunday afternoon she complained of earache, then went pale, she was shivering even though very hot to touch. I took her home (we were up my mums) got her into her pj's, under two blankets and gave her some medicine. About 45mins later she was fine. She even argued with me over bedtime :rotfl: so not exactly sure what that was. *shrugs*

She's back to her normal self now and went back to school yesterday so who knows?

That's good to hear - maybe the thing on Sunday was just the tail end of whatever bug she had going through the system?

Today has been a bit strange. DS has gone to a childminder on a Tuesday for about a year now so I can get some work done. Now that he's 2 he can go to the local nursery and his social skills (sharing etc) needs some *ahem* improvement we enrolled him in the new year. Today was the first Tuesday in a year he has been home with me.

In honour of which we have watched Dora, played upstairs in the new playroom, done some washing, cleaned the inside windows, went to the shop to treat DS to some biscuits as we didn't have any, and I've got a little bit of work done while he played "bashing cars into the settees".

Not much to report debt busting wise. DH and I spent another day up in the attic sorting through more stuff. Three big bags went to one of those cash for clothes places and we got £9 for that. In his wisdom DH put the money in his bank account so I can't use it to pay anything off yet! *rolls eyes*

I'm hoping that wages from my 2nd job will go in tomorrow. It won't be much as they don't pay a proper wage for shadowing shifts but it's better than nothing.

I took a load of photos of things to sell. Just need to get them listed on the relevant site. I am plodding through that today between playing with DS so it is taking me a while.

I did have some good news yesterday though. My job is only funded for 3 years and I am about to go into my second year. It took forever for the initial funding to come through so I am not looking forward to having to reapply next year. However, yesterday, I was asked by someone quite high up if I could give him a list of everything I've done so far. He isn't local so doesn't see what I do but he's so enthusiastic and I know the elders of my church have been giving him reports about my work. He said if he had a list of everything I have done/am doing then it will help him put in a good word with the people who release the funding. He seems very keen to get the funding extended. :D nice to have someone with a bit of sway on my side :D
