Decluttering is a nightmare isn't it? Although worth it when you finally get there. Look after yourself and rest while you are not feeling well though x

I've had a fairly busy morning so got my feet up with a cuppa now :)

I had to send a rather uncomfortable email so I did that first thing so that I couldn't put it off like I normally do. With that done I could do nicer things and try to forget about it.

I sat at my sewing machine (not in my craft room as there is no power up there yet) and made a present for one of DD's friends who is having a party on Sunday. So far there has been no presents bought for school friends this academic year and no presents at all bought this month. All have been made :) I also made a wheat bag for one of the elders at church who slipped and fell on some ice last week. Thankfully he was okay (he is quite frail) but he has a stiff neck so I thought a wheat bag may help. I will get that to him at some point over the weekend.

I have also made what feels like a million crochet hearts for DD to take to school tomorrow for Dydd Santes Dwynwen (welsh valentines day). I have 3 more to make then she has enough for each member of staff in the school or everyone in her class plus extra, depending on what she decides on. She's fluctuating at the moment. I have found some heart fabric too so may make her a skirt to wear to school tomorrow if she wants as they can wear their own clothes (for 50p mind you!)

Well one more tea and that's our grocery challenge over. I've got the last of the chicken out last night to make something with for tea tonight - possibly chicken Kievs? Then all that's left in the freezer is stock, some veg, and two single portions of home made soup. The cupboards are pretty bare too and we have £2 left from the original £40.

It's been hard but only as meals took a bit of thinking about and an open mind (yes pasta goes very nicely with mushy peas according to my kids!) DH has put some more money in the grocery pot now so I plan to do a shop either tonight or tomorrow to stock back up.

I won't go mad as we still haven't got that much money and I can't put my contribution in til I get paid on Monday. A meal plan may be the best (and cheapest) way to go

That's a lovely thing to do making that wheat bag - and DD and her hearts too, even if it was you that made them!

You've done fantastically with your grocery challenge too - seriously, well done. I have to confess that now I'm back in the habit of meal planning I'm finding it so much easier. Before I shopped this morning I checked the plan, worked out what extras to the normal bits I wanted to buy, and now I know I'm all sorted for next weeks food.

She was so excited to take them in this morning. I put them in a little box and she decided she wanted to give them to everyone in her class, her teacher, her TA, the student that's in her class at the moment, the head and the caretaker. I think there was some spare too but she does enjoy giving so I'm not expecting any to make it home :)

The caretaker too - now THAT really shows some thoughtfulness. Good for her. :T

She loves the caretaker. I get the feeling he's really good with the kids. She always looks for him in the mornings and speaks to him in the afternoons.

  • Fantastic on your budget there starnac. :-)

Mushy peas and pasta - hmm, not a fan of pasta, but open minded!

Hope the shopping was not too ouchy. I'm finding meal planning (or my shoddy loose version of it) and having real money out for spends helps me

Hope you're good and warm too!
