Stick to your guns OP. To be honest if he is "not prepared to wait that long" maybe he should get a move on and do what you are asking, it's pretty standard. The more he wastes time arguing, the longer he will have to wait! I have to say, it smells iffy to me. Stay polite though. At the moment, you have your money, he has his item and you only have his word for it that it isn't working.
Can you try writing to him again and making the comparison that if I went into Argos and told them I had a faulty telly, they would want to LOOK at it before they refunded me?!
Hope it works out for you and don't be bullied into refunding without the item at the risk of negative feedback. If he negs you, answer calmly, truthfully and honestly. People will see who was being uncooperative...Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

I don't think you should say it works well. You should only say worked well. How do you know it works well, if the door was damaged when you sold it. That was certainly a misleading.
Tell him post it back using recorded delivery, then refund him. Do me a favour!
Regardless of what the seller may done wrong he still doesnt have to refund until he has his item back. Trust doesnt come into it in business. This buyer is using emotional blackmail along with any other trick he can throw at the seller, he didnt need to get so personal.
personally i would let this go to a paypal dispute (i presume thats how he paid) he has been un-cooperative so far and its him not the seller that is making this a longer process than it needs to be. I would refuse all further contact and let someone else deal. If the paypal claim was lost the buyer would still have to return the product at his own expense anyway. I dont like the tone of his messages almost seems like he is trying to bully you "go-on do it, you know you want to " like that horrible little gremiln on the adverts about adult education  And i cant bear people who say my name several times in a sentance when they speak to me, let alone in writing

No he paid by cheque, so I assume he cant dispute throught paypal, only through e-bay
I'm going to repeat my offer to him to return it for a refund. I will stick to my guns over this and also point out that if he bought a pair of sock etc from M & S he would have to give them back before he got a refund from them - they wouldn't ggive him the money a week before they got the socks
Thanks0 -

Well I took a photo with it just before I posted it. If you held the broken bits in the right position it did work, its just that if you released the pressure the thing switched off. Hence stating that it works and just requires a replacement battery holder.
All I want to do is refund him, i just don't want to send im the money before i get the camera back0 -
Like I said previously, I think he probably replaced the battery compartment but didnt secure it tightly enough to engage the batteries. Then he would have probably taken it apart to see if he could fix it.
Im only summising of course, but sounds to me like he has had a "tinker with it", especially as he likes buying broken things.
The advice you have been given is sound. Dont give him a penny until you have the camera in your hands, and then check all the screws etc are tight to be sure it hasnt been taken apart. If you suspect it has, repackage it and send it straight back to him recorded delivery with a covering note and forget about it. The fact he paid by cheque is in your favour. I doubt ebay will be interested in it at all.0 -
It would cost him £15 to start an ebay dispute-not worth his time.
stick by your guns and wear your neg with pride if he gives you one, the more people that stick by the rules of ebay the better it is for the rest of us !!

It gets better. Just had this reply
Hi Peter, I'm Ken's son,we found Ken unconscious this afternoon, he'd had
Heart attack and is now in Hospital with my mum and were all very worried
about him, I'm only telling you this if you wondered why he had'nt replied
to your E-mail.
Regards Jamie0 -
oh good grief. I hate to sound unsympathetic but if I had found my [insert relation] unconscious with a heart attack, the LAST thing I would be doing was hacking into his email and responding to emails which quite frankly for £10 would surely pale into insignificance.
DON'T you budge.
