Protest by Asylum Seekers

Below is an extract from a House of Commons briefing note. Google SN/SG/4334 if you want to find it.
"The proportion of foreign national prisoners in the prison population has increased steadily over the past decade. In the early/mid 1990s foreign prisoners accounted for 8% of the total prison population increasing to approximately 14% by June 2006, remaining at a similar level since then."0 -
Personaly I think we should shut the doors to all....Black white, pink, purple, orange, yellow or green.
Lets get our house in order.
With unemployement growing and housing and school places becoming more in demand than ever, we really need to focus on getting what is already here sorted.
Close the doors, let noone else in. Give eveyone already here a passport if they dont already have one. Make sure that they work and pay taxes before getting anykind of benefits or fire them back out the door.
Once we have, we can continue to cherry pick those who needs our help most and those who can offer the most to our society.
But before we can do any of that we need to get the scrounging !!!!!!!s who already live here off there !!!!!!. And I do mean the english ones!!
GOne day some company will do what they say they will do and charge a fair charge.:T
Not doing the opposite of that which they promise and charge you a fortune for the privileged.
Or maybe not:mad:0 -

So what you're saying is:
Increased immigration = fewer Brits causing crimes?
Jolly good - let's have a few more boatloads over then, I sayOh come on, don't be silly.
It's the internet - it's not real!0 -
that's an interesting way to look at the statistics!
The way I read them is that since foreigners make up less than 14% of the population it is fair to say that foreigners do commit more crime (on average) than native "British" people.0 -

asylum seekers in glasgow, lets see, are there no other cities between glasgow and their home country where they can be safe?
Most claimants transit Germany, where there is more work and the standard of living is much higher than the UK. The regulations require that they halt in the first EU state into which they pass.
Yet they decline greater employment opportunities and a higher standard of living, choosing to come to the UK instead.

Well if most of this thread is anything to go by, it's certainly not for the decent, tolerant, intelligent nature of the natives....Oh come on, don't be silly.

The UK doesn't take the most asylum seekers, not even in the EU. France takes more overall, and places like Austria take more per 1000 of population. In the world, over 50% of refugees seek asylum in neighbouring countries - the country with the most refugees in the world is, I believe, Pakistan.
And that's from UN statistics.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -

Illegal immigrants aren't asylum seekers. Besides, it's very difficult to get by if you aren't known to the authorities, so I don't expect there are all that many.
And could you define "hordes", because I'm having trouble at finding figures? I know there'll be estimates somewhere..
Sorry, just found it as "Low estimate of 417000. High estimate of 863000"Squirrel!If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
