Another day working from home for me - clearing the car yesterday was like dismantling an igloo - and even then couldn't get the doors open.
More snowfall overnight means the car is igloo'd again - and it has snowed again this morning. So conditions are treacherous and I am not going anywhere, by car, or on foot.
I'm warm and cosy in here, and have plenty of food, so it's all fine. Normal service will be resumed in due course!

ETA - MG!! Welcome back!! We were beginning to worry you were lost in a snowdrift until Fantasia updated us yesterday. Glad you and the boys are keeping cosy.If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Won't hear a word against the men from BT - he spent yesterday practicaly rewiring all the telephone cable from the pole to my house and inside too. Poor soul out inthe snow - but I kept him going with mocha coffee and Twink's Hob Nobs.
He has just been back and fitted two supression filters and fingers crossed that I not only have a Broadband Connection but a stable one at that.
I betcha I have got loads to catch up on becasue haven't been able to get online since got back in the wee small hours of Sunday (trip from hell back from Manchester that ended in having to stand for an hour in Edinburgh Station freezing my tush). Got home and there was about 8" of snow - so only just made it on the last train.
School all cancelled here - completely snowed in and not worth moving. Plan is to pull the business model completely apart and fix these gaps - stepping into unknown territory here, so fingers crossed.
So many questions to ask, that I hope have been covered. Like how is baby Winky getting on? and how many fotball tops did we get? - Oh and Olive, remember I have gt some money still here to go towards the shipping.
So I hope you are all warm and toasty - and I hope that you don't HAVE to go driving on those horrible road surfaces. I trust you all- but I don't trust the other nutters on the road.:D
Off to make a pot of tea and settle down for a catch-up.

Snow update from Kent ....
Left home this morning with 2-3" of snow, driving not great, but passable.
Got to work, 8 miles away = NOTHING!!!
Was chatting to my mum yesterday who works at a local primary school - their 'snow policy' (for staff) is that "if they live under 5 miles from the school, they should walk-in!!" Narrow country lanes etc? I think not - luckily my mum agreed!start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

Morning all. Managed to get in to work on the second attempt. The first attempt I ended up driving in a blizzard...so I thought, go home, have some porridge and attempt again. Which I did. It took me 1.5 hours, but I got to work to be greeted by my work colleagues with "Oh, well, you should have just driven through the blizzard and made it in." These are the same people who last year fled home at the first sign of a snowflake. So, I guess the old "only come in if you have to line" doesn't apply for University Accountants.
Still, on the positive side, I have proven to myself that I can drive in this weather, and as long as the other crazies keep the hell away from me, I should be fine. I was really sorry to hear about Cheri's "escapade" but if you hit black ice, then there is little you can do about it. Cheri...don't blame yourself. If Lewis Hamilton hit black ice he would have a problem, and he's a professional at it! I hope you are recovering okay.
Glad to see that MG is back in the land of the living... but slightly concerned about the Matrix...I can't get onto it this morning and have got a 404error. I have no idea what that means, but it seems quite serious!!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -

South East London/London bit of Kent here. Dusting this morning but it has been coming down really heavily since then and we'e had a good 4 inches so far. DH had a slight delay on the train going in but I wonder how it will be coming home.
Just as well the December 4 London day isn't going ahead MG (although I don't think we are forecast any more heavy snow for the remainder of the week). It would not have been a nice journey down here.
Any news on when you hope to reschedule it? Hearing so many excited reports from those who went on the Leeds and Manchester days is making me reeeally impatient to go on it with my twoIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Oh my Lord, the universe loves me today :rotfl:.
here's me been freaking out because i couldnt get into work because of the weather and yesterday couldnt get through to head office to let them know either. Turns out it was shut yesterday due to the snow and when I contacted today, turns out I have been freaking out for nothing.
I've to take the full week off :eek:and it wont count as a holiday and I STILL GET PAID.:T:T:j:j
Wow, I asked the universe to get rid of the snow but its actually given me what I asked for but in a totally different way.
It was a lucky day for me, the day I found this thread and everybody on here because I've gained so much, from the faith to leave a thankless job 2 months ago, loads of encouragement, and most importantly, how to start losing the negativity and eternal pessemist attitude.:T:T:T:A:A0 -
